1974 Eisenhower Trophy
The 1974 Eisenhower Trophy took place 30 October to 2 November at the Casa de Campo in La Romana, Dominican Republic. It was the ninth World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 35 four-man teams. The best three scores for each round counted towards the team total. The United States won the Eisenhower Trophy for the fourth successive time, finishing 10 strokes ahead of the silver medalists, Japan. Brazil took the bronze medal while South Africa finished fourth. Jaime Gonzalez from Brazil and American Jerry Pate had the lowest individual scores, six-over-par 294. The event was originally planned to be played in Malaysia but was moved because of the inability of all member countries to compete there as the Malaysian government's policy prohibited entry into Malaysia of representatives of South Africa. La Romana, Dominican Republic
La Romana is a municipality and capital of the southeastern La Romana Province, province of La Romana, opposite Catalina Island, Dominican Republic, Catalina Island. It is one of the 10 largest cities in the Dominican Republic with a population estimated in 2022 at 153,241 within the city limits (metropolitan area, metropolitan population: 270,000), of whom 149,840 are urban and 3,401 are rural. Terry Gale
Terry R. Gale (born 7 June 1946) is an Australian professional golfer. Professional career Gale had a successful amateur career before turning professional at a relatively advanced age in 1976. From the mid-1970s to the early 1990s he won regularly on the PGA Tour of Australasia, the Japan Golf Tour, and the Asia Golf Circuit. Once he turned 50, he joined the European Seniors Tour, where he won seven tournaments. His best season on that tour was 2003, when he finished third on the Order of Merit. Chen Tze-ming (, born 28 September 1952) is a Taiwanese professional golfer who has played on the PGA Tour, Japan Golf Tour, Asia Golf Circuit, Asian Tour and the European Tour. In the U.S., he is often referred to as T.M. Chen. His younger brother, Chen Tze-chung, is also a professional golfer who has won tournaments on the Japanese, Asian and American tours. Doug Roxburgh (born December 28, 1951) is a Canadian accountant, amateur golfer, and golf administrator. He has won the Canadian Amateur Championship four times, the B.C. Amateur Championship a record 13 times, and is a member of the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame. Roxburgh was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. He learned golf as a youth, and was runner-up in the Canadian Junior Championship in 1967 at age 15. He scored his first important success in the 1969 B.C. Priscillo Diniz
Jose Priscillo G. Diniz (born 12 December 1948) is a Brazilian professional golfer. Diniz was born in São Paulo. He comes from a family which boasts several other professional golfers, including his grandfather, but he did not turn professional himself until the age of 28, having previously been a practicing lawyer. As an amateur he was twice Brazilian Amateur champion and he also won the 1975 South American Amateur Championship. In his regular (that is under fifty) career, Diniz won several titles on the South American circuit. He played on the European Tour in 1977 and 1978, but with little success. In 2000 he was the Rookie of the Year on the European Seniors Tour and finished sixth on that tour's Order of Merit.
