Roscrea GAA
Roscrea GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Roscrea, County Tipperary, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the North Tipperary Board and is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. History Located in the town of Roscrea, on the Tipperary-Offaly border, Roscrea GAA Club was founded in 1895. The club spent most of its early existence operating in the junior grade in the various North Tipperary competitions. Roscrea had their breakthrough success in 1936 when the club claimed their first North Tipperary SHC title. Roscrea's breakthrough at county level came when the club won three successive Tipperary SHC titles between 1968 and 1970. The club also claimed back-to-back Munster Club SHC titles at this time. On 19 December 1971, Roscrea beat St Ryangh's by 4-05 to 2-05 to become the inaugural winners of the All-Ireland Club SHC title. The club won further Tipperary SHC titles in 1972, 1973 and 1980. Noel O'Dwyer
Noel O'Dwyer (born 26 December 1948) is an Irish former hurler. At club level he played with Borris–Ileigh and was also a member of the Tipperary senior hurling team. Career O'Dwyer played hurling as a schoolboy at Templemore CBS where he won a Dr. Kinane Cup and three successive Dr. Croke Cup titles. He first played for Borris–Ileigh at juvenile and underage levels and was part of the team that won the club's inaugural Tipperary U21AHC title in 1969. O'Dwyer spent over 20 years with the club's senior team and won six North Tipperary SHC titles and three Tipperary SHC titles between 1972 and 1988. He was at centre-forward on the Borris–Ileigh team that beat Rathnure in the 1987 All-Ireland club final. O'Dwyer first played for Tipperary at minor level in 1966. The Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the FBD Insurance Tipperary County Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Tipperary GAA, Tipperary County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1887 for the top hurling teams in the County Tipperary, county of Tipperary in Ireland.
