The 1972 Danish speedway season was the 1972 season of motorcycle speedway in Denmark. Individual Danish Final (world championship round) Eight riders (Henning Hansen, Fred Hansen, Erik Tillgaard, Jörn Mogensen, Preben Bollerup, Kurt Bögh, Bent Nørregaard-Jensen and Nils Schelde) competed in the three Nordic qualification rounds, as part of the 1972 Individual Speedway World Championship. None of the Nordic qualifiers was held in Denmark. Individual Championship The 1972 Danish Individual Speedway Championship was the 1972 edition of the Danish Individual Speedway Championship. The final was held at Esbjerg on 17 September. The title was won by Ole Olsen for the 6th time. Glumsø Speedway
Glumsø is a railway town, with a population of 2,121 (1.January 2022), located on the southern part of Zealand in Denmark. Until 1.January 2007 it was the seat of Suså Municipality. Glumsø Station is located in Glumsø, serving the Sydbanen line. The station was heavily redesigned in late 2009. Before being redesigned it used to serve German ICE trains on the Copenhagen-Hamburg line, although ICE trains now just pass through. Esbjerg Speedway Klub or Esbjerg Vikings (part of Esbjerg Motosport) is a speedway club from Esbjerg in Denmark, who compete in the Danish Speedway League. The team have won the Danish Speedway League title on 10 occasions in 1967, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1980, 1981, 1984, 2012, 2013. History 1929 to 1966 Esbjerg Motorsport was founded in 1929 as the Esbjerg Automobile and Motorcycle Club. After World War II the club acquired moorland and built a track called the Korskro Motor Center, which opened on 7 July 1946. The Danish Speedway League ( da, Dansk Speedway Liga) or Danish Super League or Metal League as it is called today is the top division of motorcycle speedway in Denmark. Ole Hermansen (speedway Rider)
Ole Hermansen (1893–1942) was a Norwegian trade unionist. He began as a forest and construction worker, but was hired by Rena Kartonfabrikk (Rena Carton Factory) in 1920. He was a member of the Labour Party from 1915, but joined the Communist Party in 1923, and was elected to Åmot municipal council in the same year. In 1926 he became mayor of Amot. He was a delegate at the Sixth Comintern Congress in 1928, and in 1929 he was elected to the Communist Party central board. In the 1933 election he was the Communist Party first candidate in Hedmark. During the occupation of Norway by Nazi Germany he was arrested by the Nazis, shortly after Operation Barbarossa. Danish Under 21 Individual Speedway Championship
The Danish Under 21 Individual Speedway Championship is a competition for riders who are under the age of 21, holding a Danish passport and a valid DMU licence. The competition was first staged in 1960 and was won by Jorgen Hoffman. Although there was no competition in 1961, the event returned in 1962 and has been staged every year since. Kenneth Bjerre holds the record for most titles with four.
