1972 All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship
The 1972 All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship was the 12th staging of the All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1961. THe championship ran from 16 April to 17 September 1972. Tipperary entered the championship as the defending champions. The All-Ireland final was played at St. Brendan's Park in Birr on 17 September 1972 between Tipperary and Galway, in what was their first ever meeting in the final. Tipperary won the match by 2-13 to 1-09 to claim their fourth All-Ireland title overall and a second title in succession. Noel Seymour
William Noel Seymour (born 1945) is an Irish former hurler. At club level he played with Kiladangan and was also a member of the Tipperary senior hurling team. Career Seymour first played hurling as a schoolboy with the North Tipperary vocational school team that won Munster and All-Ireland titles in 1962. He also played at juvenile and underage levels with the Kiladangan club. Seymour progressed to adult level and was part of the Kiladangan team that won the Tipperary JAHC title in 1971. He also won four North Tipperary IHC titles between 1966 and 1980. Seymour first appeared on the inter-county scene as a member of the Tipperary minor hurling team in 1963. He later spent two consecutive seasons with the under-21 team and was a non-playing substitute when Tipperary were beaten by Wexford in the 1964 All-Ireland under-21 final. Affane Cappoquin GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Cappoquin, County Waterford, Ireland. The club was formed in 1969 with the merging of Affane GAA and Cappoquin GAA. At present, the team is called Cappoquin when playing hurling and Affane when playing gaelic football. Its finest hour in football came in 1974 when, having beaten Stradbally in the quarter-final and The Nire in the semi-final, Affane defeated Dunhill by 1-8 to 0-6 to win its only Waterford Senior Football Championship title. Kilruane MacDonaghs GAA
Kilruane MacDonaghs GAA is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "North-Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred on the villages of Kilruane, Ardcroney and Cloughjordan. The club was founded in 1937 and is named after Thomas MacDonagh, a signatory of the 1916 Proclamation who was born and lived in Cloughjordan. The clubhouse and playing field are located in Cloughjordan. The finest day in the club's history was in 1986 when it won the Senior Hurling Club All-Ireland title, defeating Buffers Alley of Wexford GAA in the final by 1-15 to 2-10. Munster Intermediate Hurling Championship
The Munster Intermediate Hurling Championship was an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) between 1961 and 2017. Teams consisted of senior, intermediate and junior club players who were not members of their county's senior panel. The competition was established to prevent the stronger counties from dominating the existing Munster Junior Hurling Championship. The final, frequently held in July, served as the culmination of a series of games played during the early summer months, often as curtain raisers to Munster SHC games, with the results determining which team received the Sweet Afton Cup.
