1970 NCAA Soccer Tournament
The 1970 NCAA soccer tournament was the 12th annual tournament organized by the National Collegiate Athletic Association to determine the national champion of men's college soccer among its members in the United States. The final match was played at Cougar Field in Edwardsville, Illinois on December 5. Saint Louis won their eighth national title—and second title in a row—by defeating UCLA in the championship game, 1–0. Qualifying Four teams made their debut appearances in the NCAA soccer tournament: Columbia, Denver, Penn State, and WPI. Ralph Korte Stadium
Ralph Korte Stadium, also known as "The Ralph", is a 4,000 seat stadium located on the campus of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in Edwardsville, Illinois. It is home to the SIUE Cougars men's and women's soccer and outdoor track & field teams. In addition to the stands on the west side of the field, a berm was put in on the east side in 2011 to provide lawn seating for the tailgating fans known as "The East Siders." Construction The stadium was constructed on university property surrounding the existing "Bob Guelker Field" in 1993–94 by the City of Edwardsville as a site to host the 1994 U.S. Olympic Festival. In 1998, the university trustees named the stadium to honor Ralph Korte, the founder of The Korte Company of Highland, an SIUE alumnus and strong advocate of the school. Brown Bears Men's Soccer
The Brown Bears men's soccer team represents Brown University in men's Division I NCAA competitions. They compete in the Ivy League. The Bears have been semifinalists in the NCAA tournament in 1968, 1973, and 1975. They also finished in fourth place in 1977. They are coached by Patrick Laughlin who has been head coach since 2010. The SIU Edwardsville Cougars men's soccer team represents Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) in the Missouri Valley Conference of NCAA Division I soccer. The Cougars play their home matches on Bob Guelker Field at Ralph Korte Stadium located in the southwest corner of the SIUE campus in Edwardsville, Illinois. The Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens men's soccer team represents the University of Delaware in all men's college soccer competitions.
