	1968 Eisenhower Trophy The 1968 Eisenhower Trophy took place 9 to 12 October at the Royal Melbourne Golf Club in Black Rock, Victoria, Australia. It was the sixth World Amateur Team Championship for the Eisenhower Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 26 four-man teams. The best three scores for each round counted towards the team total. The United States won the Eisenhower Trophy for the third time, finishing a strokes ahead of the silver medalists, Great Britain and Ireland. Canada took the bronze medal while Australia finished fourth. Michael Bonallack and Vinny Giles had the lowest individual scores, six-under-par 286. Great Britain and Ireland led by 7 strokes after three rounds but the Americans scored 73, 73 and 75 in the final round to Great Britain and Irelands 76, 76, and 77 to win by a stroke. 	Gary Cowan Gary Cowan (born October 28, 1938) is a Canadian golfer who has achieved outstanding results at the highest class in amateur competition. Early life Cowan was born in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. He began to play golf at the municipal golf course, Rockway, in Kitchener, and found great rivalries there with local players such as Moe Norman and Gerry Kesselring. The three were coached by Lloyd Tucker. In 1956, Cowan reached the semifinals of the Ontario Amateur Championship at age 17, a record for a player so young. 	Peter Oosterhuis Peter Arthur Oosterhuis (3 May 1948 – 2 May 2024) was an English professional golfer and broadcaster. He played on the European circuit from 1969 to 1974, winning 10 tournaments and taking the Harry Vardon Trophy for heading the Order of Merit for four consecutive seasons from 1971 to 1974. From 1975 he played on the PGA Tour, winning the Canadian Open in 1981. Oosterhuis was twice runner-up in the Open Championship, in 1974 and 1982. 	Hsu Sheng-san Hsu Sheng-san (, born 16 April 1942) is a Taiwanese professional golfer. Amateur career Hsu's first two victories in professional tournaments were as an amateur, in 1966 at the Okinawa Open, and in 1967 at the Philippine Open. Professional career Outside of Taiwan, Hsu played primarily on the Asia Golf Circuit winning seven tournaments and heading the Order of Merit in 1976, 1978 and 1982.
