Camden London Borough Council is the local authority for the London Borough of Camden in Greater London, England. It is a London borough council, one of 32 in the United Kingdom capital of London. Camden is divided into 18 Wards of the United Kingdom, wards, each electing three Councillor#United Kingdom, councillors. Archie Macdonald
Archibald James Florence "Archie" Macdonald (2 May 1904 – 20 April 1983) was a Scottish Liberal and later Conservative politician, who also had a career in business. Early life and career Macdonald was born in Uniondale, Western Cape in South Africa. His father was of an eye surgeon who came originally from Aberdeen. The family then moved to Australia, where Macdonald received his education at Chatswood Grammar School, near Sydney, New South Wales and the Royal Australian Naval College. During the 1920s, he was a successful wool buyer, and when he came to Britain in the 1930s, he and his brother set up their own business importing Australian fruits. He volunteered for service in 1939, but was turned down, as he had a serious thyroid problem. In 1945, he married the Hon. Samuel Fisher, Baron Fisher Of Camden
Samuel Fisher, Baron Fisher of Camden (20 January 1905 – 12 October 1979) was a British businessman, local politician and leading member of the Jewish community. Fisher was born in Stepney in the East End of London as Samuel Fishtenberg, the son of Eastern European immigrants. He left school to start work at the age of 15, eventually entering the diamond business as a broker in the Hatton Garden area. He rose to become Secretary and Vice-President of the London Diamond Bourse. In 1945 he entered local politics as a Labour Party member of Stoke Newington Borough Council, and served as Mayor of Stoke Newington in 1953–54. He became a JP for Inner London in 1951. When Camden London Borough Council was created as a shadow authority in 1964 he was its Chairman, and was chosen as the first Mayor of Camden in 1965–1966. Leila Campbell
Leila Campbell (née Jaffe; 10 August 1911 – 2 October 1993) was a British Labour party politician. She was a former London County Council, Greater London Council and Inner London Education Authority member, and chairman of the Hampstead Theatre Board. Early life Campbell was born on 10 August 1911 in Birkenhead, Cheshire to parents Rebecca (née Neiman, 1879–1965) and Myer Jaffe (1883–1961). She was educated at the Belvedere school, Liverpool, trained to be an art teacher and worked as a dress designer and cutter. During the early 1930s the family lived at 41 Parkfield Road, Toxteth, Liverpool and by 1939, they were living at 5 Devonshire Road, Toxteth. King's Cross is a ward of the London borough of Camden, in the United Kingdom. The ward has existed since the creation of the borough on 1 April 1965 and was first used in the 1964 elections. Alan Greengross
Sir Alan David Greengross (15 April 1929 – 13 August 2018) was a British politician, who served as the final leader of the Conservative Party on the Greater London Council (GLC). Born in London, Alan's father Morris was Mayor of Holborn in the 1960s, while his sister Wendy became a well known counsellor. Greengross was educated at University College School in Hampstead, and then undertook National Service with the Royal Air Force before studying law at Trinity College, Cambridge. After graduation, he joined the family business, the precision engineering firm Indusmond (Diamond Tools) Ltd; he later became its chair and managing director. In 1959, he married Sally Rosengarten, who later became Director General of Age Concern England. Peter Leonard Brooke, Baron Brooke of Sutton Mandeville, (born 3 March 1934) is a British politician. A member of the Conservative Party, he served in the Cabinet under Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher and John Major, and was a Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Cities of London and Westminster from 1977 to 2001.
