In Broadcasting of sports events, sports broadcasting, a sports commentator (also known as a sports announcer or sportscaster) provides a real time (media), real-time live commentary of a game or event, traditionally delivered in the present tense. There are two main types of sports broadcasting: radio and television. Radio broadcasting requires the commentator to describe the action in detail because the listeners could not see it for themselves. Radio commentators use vivid descriptions to provide a captivating experience for the audience. Giles Stannus Cooper, OBE (9 August 1918 – 2 December 1966) was an Anglo-Irish playwright and prolific radio dramatist, writing over sixty scripts for BBC Radio and television. He was awarded the OBE in 1960 for "Services to Broadcasting". The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets is the name used for all of the intercollegiate athletic teams that represent the Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), located in Atlanta, Georgia, United States. The teams have also been nicknamed the Ramblin' Wreck, Engineers, Blacksmiths, and Golden Tornado. KCQQ (106.5 FM, “Big 106.5”) is a radio station licensed to Davenport, Iowa, with a classic hits format.
