The first Philadelphia Ukrainians team, also known as the "Philadelphia Tridents", Tryzub FC (Ukrainian Sports Association Philadelphia Tridents, in uk, УСО (Український Спортовий Осередок) «Тризуб» (Філадельфія). USO (Ukrainsky Sportovy Oseredok) «Tryzub» (Philadelphia)), was an American soccer club based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and was a member of the American Soccer League. Los Angeles Kickers
The Los Angeles Kickers were an amateur American soccer team established in 1951. The club won the National Challenge Cup, now known as the U.S. Open Cup, in 1958 and 1964. In 1951, Albert Ebert and Fritz Ermert founded the Los Angeles Kickers as a predominantly German immigrant team. Within a few seasons, it shed its German identity and became a powerhouse southern California team, winning the 1956 California State Cup. In 1958, the Kickers won the first of seven straight state cups. That year, it also won the 1958 National Challenge Cup. The Kickers lost the 1960 National Challenge Cup final to the Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals and finished second to St. Stephens in the league standings. Walter Chyzowych
Walter Chyzowych ( ua, Володимир Чижович, Volodymyr Chyzhovych) (April 20, 1937 – September 2, 1994) was a Ukrainian-born soccer player who played for Philadelphia Ukrainian Nationals and Newark Sitch of the American Soccer League and was later a coach for the United States national soccer team. His older brother Gene Chyzowych (1935–2014) was also a professional soccer player and coach. Chyzowych moved to the United States at an early age and was two-time first team All-American at Temple University where he attended from 1957–1961, setting a team record for goals with 25. His first club team was Toronto City from 1961–1964. In 1964, Chyzowych earned his first cap with the national team; in total, he earned three caps. Manuel Abaunza
Manuel Abaunza is a retired Nicaraguan-American soccer inside right who played one season in the National Professional Soccer League. In 1960, Abaunza, the younger brother of Bayardo Abaunza, played for Vizcoya in Costa Rica. He moved to Los Angeles in 1961 where he joined the Los Angeles Kickers, an amateur team in the Greater Los Angeles League. In 1964, the Kickers won the 1964 National Challenge Cup over the Philadelphia Ukrainians. Abaunza scored in the first game, a 2–2 tie. The Kickers then won the return leg 2–0 to take the title. In 1965, he moved to Orange County Soccer Club of the Continental League. In 1966, Orange County lost in the final of the 1966 National Challenge Cup. On January 29, 1967, Abaunza signed with the Los Angeles Toros of the National Professional Soccer League. Overtime or extra time is an additional period of play specified under the rules of a sport to bring a game to a decision and avoid declaring the match a tie or draw where the scores are the same. In some sports, this extra period is played only if the game is required to have a clear winner, as in single-elimination tournaments where only one team or players can advance to the next round or win the tournament. The rules of overtime or extra time vary between sports and even different competitions. Some may employ "sudden death", where the first player or team who scores immediately wins the game.
