1962 Rand Grand Prix
The 5th Rand Grand Prix was a motor race, run to Formula One rules, held on 15 December 1962 at Kyalami, South Africa. The race was run over 50 laps of the circuit, and was won by British driver Jim Clark, who led from start to finish in his Team Lotus, Lotus Lotus 25, 25. There were a very large number of entries for this race, and many of the local drivers did not qualify. Among the more unusual entries was the Lotus Seven, Lotus 7 of Brausch Niemann, and the non-qualifying Cooper Car Company, Cooper of Dave Riley (racing driver), Dave Riley, which was fitted with a British Motor Corporation, BMC engine. Rand Grand Prix
The Rand Grand Prix was a auto racing, motor race held at various circuits in South Africa. The first event took place in 1937 but it was not held regularly until the 1960s, when it was run to Formula One rules and formed part of the non-championship calendar. At that time, it represented an annual warm-up race before the South African Grand Prix. Results

Reg Parnell
Reginald Parnell (2 July 1911 – 7 January 1964) was a racing driver and team manager from Derby, England. He participated in seven Formula One World Championship Grands Prix, achieving one podium, and scoring a total of nine championship points. Parnell, as both a driver and a team manager, had a considerable influence on post-war British motorsport until his premature death in 1964. Parnell raced at Brooklands and was banned following an accident with Kay Petre which ended her racing career. Before the war he bought up racing cars. Once the hostilities had ceased he sold them to form the basis of post-war racing entries. He later raced a whole host of cars before turning to management and taking Aston Martin into Formula 1. LDS (automobile)
LDS is the name given to various single seater motorsport, racing specials built for the South African Formula One Championship. The "specials" were built by Doug Serrurier, Louis Douglas Serrurier, hence the name. The Mark 1 and Mark 2 models were based on Cooper Car Company, Cooper designs, whilst the Mark 3 was based on the Brabham BT11. Mark 1 and Mark 2 models (1962–1965) used Alfa Romeo 1.5-litre straight-4 engines. A total of eight LDS cars participated in five World Championship Grands Prix. Louis Douglas Serrurier (9 December 1920 – 4 June 2006) was a racing driver and racing car constructor from South Africa. He participated in 3 Formula One World Championship Grands Prix in the 1960s, only racing in the South African Grand Prix event, debuting on 29 December 1962. He scored no championship points. Racing car constructor Serrurier built a series of racing cars under the name of LDS (automobile), LDS, after his initials.
