The 1962 Houston Oilers season was the third season for the Houston Oilers as a professional American football franchise; For the third consecutive season, the Oilers appeared in the AFL Championship Game, only to lose 20–17 in double overtime to the Dallas Texans. American Football League
The American Football League (AFL) was a major professional American football league that operated for ten seasons from 1960 until 1970, AFL–NFL merger, when it merged with the older National Football League (NFL), and became the American Football Conference. Clyde Brock
Clyde Vern Brock (born August 30, 1940) is an American former professional football offensive tackle in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Saskatchewan Roughriders. He also was a member of the Dallas Cowboys and San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Utah State University. He is a member of the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. Early life Brock attended Ogden High School before moving on to Utah State University, where he was a multi-sport athlete. He practiced football, basketball, baseball, wrestling and the shot put. In football, he was a two-way tackle, playing behind Merlin Olsen and Clark Miller. Brock missed the 1961 inaugural Gotham Bowl against Baylor University. Joe Bob Isbell
Joe Bob Isbell (born July 7, 1940) is a former American football offensive guard in the National Football League for the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns. He played college football at the University of Houston. Early years Isbell attended Little Cypress High School, before moving on to the University of Houston, where he was a team co-captain as a senior. Professional career Dallas Cowboys Isbell was selected by the Houston Oilers in the twentieth round (159th overall) of the 1962 AFL Draft, but instead chose to sign with the NFL's Dallas Cowboys as a free agent in 1962. On September 11, he was placed on the injured reserve list, but returned in October to play in 9 games. Arthur Ray Perkins (born May 1, 1940) is an American former gridiron football player and coach. He played college football for North Texas State and professionally for the Los Angeles Rams of the National Football League (NFL) and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Edmonton Eskimos of the Canadian Football League (CFL). Billy Ray Adams (October 18, 1938 – June 1, 2023) was an American college football player for the Ole Miss Rebels. He was named a first-team All-American as a senior in 1961. Adams was born on October 18, 1938, in Reform, Alabama. He grew up in Columbus, Mississippi, where he graduated from Stephen D. Lee High School.
