1962 Asian Games
The 1962 Asian Games () also known as the 4th Asian Games, IV Asiad, and Jakarta 1962, were the fourth edition of pan-Asian multi-sport event sanctioned by the Asian Games Federation (AGF). The games were held from 24 August to 4 September 1962, in Jakarta, Indonesia. It was the first international multi-sport event hosted by the then-17-year-old Southeast Asian country. This was the first of two Asian Games hosted by the city: the second was held in 2018, with Palembang as the co-host. Israel and the Republic of China (ROC) were excluded from the Games, as in solidarity with People's Republic of China and fellow-Muslim majority countries in the Middle East, Indonesian immigration officials refused to issue entry visas for the Israeli and Taiwanese delegations. It was a breach of the rules of the AGF, and Indonesia's own promise to invite all AGF members, including those with whom it had no diplomatic relations (Israel and Republic Of China). Menteng Stadium
Menteng Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium in Menteng, Central Jakarta, Indonesia. It was used mostly for football (soccer), football reserve matches and was the home stadium of Persija Jakarta, Persija football team. The stadium was built in 1921 with Netherlands, Dutch architects F.J. Kubatz and P.A.J. Moojen and was named ''Voetbalbond Indische Omstreken Sport'' (''Viosveld''). In October 2006 the stadium was demolished and a public park called Menteng Park was built on the area by the administration of Sutiyoso, governor of Jakarta at that time. The demolition was very debatable amongst the PSSI, because minister of sports Adhyaksa Dault had not approved this action. Ikada Stadium
Ikada Stadium was a multi-purpose stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia, designed by Indonesian modern architect Liem Bwan Tjie. The name Ikada only appeared during the Japanese occupation as an abbreviation of ''Ikatan Atletik Djakarta'' (Jakarta Athletic Association). This field was established in colonial times by Governor-General Herman Willem Daendels (1818) and was first called ''Champ de Mars'' because it coincided with the conquest of the Netherlands by Napoleon Bonaparte. When the Dutch succeeded in reclaiming their country from France, the name was changed to Koningsplein (King's Field) but people preferred to call it Gambir Field, which is now immortalized as the name of the nearby train station. After the recognition of independence, it was used as a stadium for the Indonesian national football team as well as the Indonesian National Games in 1951. National Monument (Indonesia)
The National Monument (, abbreviated Monas) is a 132 m (433 ft) obelisk in the centre of Merdeka Square, Jakarta, Merdeka Square, Central Jakarta. It is the national monument of the Republic of Indonesia, built to commemorate the Indonesian National Revolution, struggle for Indonesian independence. This monument is crowned with a flame covered in gold leaf which symbolizes the burning spirit of struggle of the Indonesian people.
