1961 Lewis-Evans Trophy
The 5th Lewis-Evans Trophy was a motor race, run to Formula One rules, held on 1 October 1961 at Brands Hatch Circuit. The race was run over 30 laps of the circuit, and was dominated by British driver Tony Marsh in a BRM P48. This Formula One race was unusual in that non-British competitors were not permitted to take part. French driver Bernard Collomb, who had intended to enter the race, decided to lend his car to John Campbell-Jones. Lola Cars

1961 International Gold Cup
The 8th Gold Cup was a motor race, run to Formula One rules, held on 23 September 1961 at Oulton Park, England. The race was run over 60 laps of the circuit, and was won by British driver Stirling Moss in a Ferguson P99. This is the only time a Formula One race was won by a four-wheel drive car, the damp conditions proving ideal for the car's extra traction. Gerry Ashmore
Joseph Frederick Harold Gerald Ashmore (25 July 1936 – 25 August 2021) was a British motor racing driver from England. He participated in four Formula One World Championship Grands Prix, scoring no championship points. Life Ashmore started his career in Formula Junior along with his brother Chris, in 1960. Later that year he competed at Zeltweg and Innsbruck, finishing third behind Hans Herrmann and Wolfgang von Trips. In 1961 he moved up to Formula One with a privately run Lotus 18, and scored a second place in the Naples Grand Prix after taking pole position. Later that year he took part in the British Grand Prix but retired after just a few laps. Ian Burgess
Ian John Burgess (6 July 1930 – 19 May 2012) was a British racing driver. He participated in 20 Formula One World Championship Grands Prix, debuting on 19 July 1958, and numerous non-Championship Formula One races. He scored no championship points. Racing career Burgess began racing in 1950 with a Cooper Formula Three car and had a successful 1951 season including a win at the Nürburgring before moving up to sports cars and Formula Two, where he was less successful. Burgess began working for Cooper, both in their factory and at their drivers' school based at Brands Hatch and raced one of the works Formula Two cars in 1957, when he achieved fourth place in the Oulton Park Gold Cup. This led to a drive with Tommy Atkins' team in 1958, with a similar machine. He won at Crystal Palace and Snetterton and gained fourth places at Reims and Montlhéry. Jackie Lewis
Jack Rex Lewis (born 1 November 1936) is a British former racing driver, born in Stroud, Gloucestershire. Career Lewis' racing career began in Formula Three. In 1958 Lewis bought a Formula Three Cooper- Norton from Cheltenham based Ivor Bueb and made his debut at Mallory Park, remarkably coming fourth. At Brands Hatch he made front page news for surviving a crash - a lucky photographer captured Jack’s upside-down Cooper showing Jack’s hand appearing to hold the car up. Just a week later he came first at Full Sutton and then won again at Oulton Park. In his first season in Formula 3 he raced 13 times - he won three of his races and was on the podium for a further four. Anthony Walter Dayrell Brooke (10 December 1912 – 2 March 2011) was proclaimed the Rajah Muda (heir apparent; Malay: ''Yang Amat Mulia Tuan Rajah Muda Sarawak'') on 25 March 1939, by his uncle, Rajah of Sarawak, Charles Vyner Brooke, the third and last ruling White Rajah. Later in his life he was a peace activist founding the organisation Operation Peace Through Unity. He died in Whanganui, New Zealand. Brooke was the son of Bertram, Tuan Muda of Sarawak and Gladys Milton Palmer, daughter of Sir Walter Palmer, 1st Baronet, and heir to part of the Huntley & Palmers biscuit fortune.
