1959–60 Cypriot Second Division
The 1959–60 Cypriot Second Division was the sixth season of the Cypriot second-level football league. Alki Larnaca FC won their 1st title. Format Nine teams participated in the 1959–60 Cypriot Second Division. The league was split to two geographical groups, depending from Districts of Cyprus each participated team came from. All teams of a group played against each other twice, once at their home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season crowned group champions. The winners of each group were playing against each other in the final phase of the competition and the winner were the champions of the Second Division. The Cypriot Second Division () is the second highest association football, football division of the Cypriot football league system. Administered by the Cyprus Football Association, it is contested by 16 teams, with the top three teams being Promotion and relegation, promoted to the Cypriot First Division and the last three teams being Promotion and relegation, relegated to the Cypriot Third Division. PAEEK (; short for Ποδοσφαιρική Αθλητική Ένωσις Επαρχίας Κερύνειας, ''Podosfairiki Athlitiki Enosis Eparxeias Kerynias'', translated as "Football and Sport Union of Kyrenia District", literally "Footballing Sportive Union of the District of Kyrenia") is a Cypriot sports club founded in Kyrenia in 1953 by graduates of Kyrenia Gymnasium and represented the first force to be reckoned from the small city. The Cypriot First Division (), also known as the Cyprus League by Stoiximan for sponsorship reasons, is a professional association football league in Cyprus and the highest level of the Cypriot football league system. The Evagoras Gymnastic Association Stadium (GSE Stadium) (Gymnastikos Syllogos Evagoras, Greek: Γυμναστικός Σύλλογος Ευαγόρας) is a football stadium located in Famagusta, Cyprus and was the home ground of Anorthosis and Nea Salamina. The stadium remains abandoned and in bad condition since 1974 when Turkey invaded the island of Cyprus and occupied 37.6% of it including the city of Famagusta. After the summer of 1974, Anorthosis used many football stadiums all around Cyprus like Dasaki Stadium, Aradippou Municipal Stadium, Paralimni Stadium, Tsirion Stadium, old GSZ Stadium, and new GSZ Stadium. In 1986, Anorthosis built its own stadium named Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium, located in Larnaca. GCP Stadium () was a Association football, football stadium in Nicosia, Cyprus. It had a capacity of 12,000 and was built in 1902 with donations given by Greek Cypriot Nicosians. On 17 October 1934, after a general assembly of the GCP association, the stadium was renamed "GCP Stadium, Eugenia and Antonios Theodotou" in honour of the stadium's major benefactors. The stadium served as the home stadium for the Nicosia football clubs of Enosis Neon Trust, Trust, APOEL F.C., APOEL, Olympiakos Nicosia, AC Omonia, Omonia, Orfeas Nicosia, Armenian Young Men's Association, AYMA and Çetinkaya Türk S.K. GSO Stadium or Gymnastic Club Olympia Stadium (; Γ.Σ.Ο.) was a stadium in Limassol, Cyprus. History In July 1892, a group of locals founded the gymnastics club "Olympia" (GSO), which is the oldest gymnastics club in Cyprus and the second oldest in the Greek speaking world, after Panellinios G.S. which was founded in 1891.
