1959 Washington Boeing 707 Crash
On October 19, 1959, N7071, a Boeing 707, was on a demonstration and acceptance flight before being delivered to Braniff International Airways. The flight was also used to instruct the Braniff pilots. During some maneuvers the control was lost, causing the aerodynamic forces to rip three engines off. The plane crash landed, killing all four crew but the four observering passengers sitting in the rear section of the plane survived. Dutch roll is an aircraft motion consisting of an out-of- phase combination of "tail-wagging" (yaw) and rocking from side to side (roll). This yaw-roll coupling is one of the basic flight dynamic modes (others include phugoid, short period, and spiral divergence). Lake Cavanaugh is a census-designated place (CDP) in Skagit County, Washington, United States. The population was 200 at the 2020 census.
