1956–57 Iraq Central FA First Division Cup
The 1956–57 Iraq Central FA First Division Cup was the ninth season of the Iraq Central FA Premier League (the top division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities from 1948 to 1973) and the first season under the name of ''Iraq Central FA First Division Cup''. Six teams competed in the tournament, which started on 18 December 1956. It was played as a double-elimination tournament, with Maslahat Naqil Al-Rukab winning their first title by beating Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya Al-Malakiya 1–0 in the final. Final positions Note: Al-Adhamiya and Al-Hawat dropped out of the tournament. Al-Adhamiya returned for the following season. Iraq Central FA Premier League
The Iraq Central FA Premier League, also known as the Iraq Central FA First Division and previously named the Iraq FA Baghdad First Division (), was the top-level division of football in Baghdad and its neighbouring cities between 1948 and 1973. It was controlled by the Iraq Football Association, Iraq Central Football Association and was played under a variety of different formats including a Double-elimination tournament, double-elimination format, a Round-robin tournament, round-robin format and a double round-robin format. It was one of several regional league championships played in Iraq at the time, with others including the Iraq FA Basra Premier League, Basra, Iraq FA Kirkuk Premier League, Kirkuk and Mosul leagues. Youra Eshaya Pera (, ) (1933-1992) is a former Assyrian and Iraqi football player who was the first Iraqi player ever to play in England. Early life He was born in 1933 in Iraq to Eshaya Pera and Batishwa Benyamin. His family moved to Baghdad to live at the Royal Air Force Station Hinaidi in 1935, where Youra's father worked for the Royal Air Force (RAF). In 1937, the family was transferred to Habbaniya along with the rest of the Hinaidi Assyrian and Armenian civilians and the Assyrian levies employed by the Royal Air Force. Armik is an Iranian-Armenian American New Flamenco guitarist, producer and composer. His music blends Spanish guitar scales with flamenco improvisation, Latin jazz rhythms, and classical elements. Nassir Chico
Nassir "Chico" Yousef (1917 – September 26, 1991) was an Iraqi footballer, who played for Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya and the Iraq, playing for the first Iraqi team in 1951 during the 1950s. Yousef was born in Baghdad in 1917 in the local Al-Ammar district in the Al-Abkhana area, near Al-Senak area in the Iraqi capital. He scored goals from various angles and situations. Yousef studied at Tahra Primary School and has been practicing football from an early age. He was given the name Chico because of his size by a group of British soldiers during the start of his career during the late 1930s. Ammo Baba
Emmanuel Baba Dawud (27 November 1934 – 27 May 2009), better known as Ammo Baba (, ), was an Iraqi football player and coach of the Iraq national football team. He scored the first international goal for Iraq in 1957 against Morocco at the 2nd Pan Arab Games in Beirut and later returned to the team as the coach in 1978. Playing career Ammo Baba was born in Baghdad, Iraq, of Assyrian ethnicity. He emerged in the Middle Eastern football scene at the age of 16 at a 1951 Pan Arab School Championship in Cairo playing for the Iraq against the home nation Egypt. He had been discovered by Iraqi schoolboys' coach Ismail Mohammed while playing for the Liwa Al-Dulaim school province team.
