1955–56 Cypriot Second Division
The 1955–56 Cypriot Second Division was the third season of the Cypriot second-level football league. Aris Limassol won their 2nd title. Format Eight teams participated in the 1955–56 Cypriot Second Division. The league was split into two geographical groups, depending from which Districts of Cyprus each participated team came from. All teams of each group played against each other twice, once at their home and once away. The team with the most points at the end of the season were crowned group champions. The winners of each group played against each other in the final phase of the competition and the winner were the champions of the Second Division. The champion was promoted to the 1956–57 Cypriot First Division. Teams received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a loss. Cypriot Second Division
The Cypriot Second Division () is the second highest association football, football division of the Cypriot football league system. Administered by the Cyprus Football Association, it is contested by 16 teams, with the top three teams being Promotion and relegation, promoted to the Cypriot First Division and the last three teams being Promotion and relegation, relegated to the Cypriot Third Division. GSP Stadium (1902)
GCP Stadium () was a Association football, football stadium in Nicosia, Cyprus. It had a capacity of 12,000 and was built in 1902 with donations given by Greek Cypriot Nicosians. On 17 October 1934, after a general assembly of the GCP association, the stadium was renamed "GCP Stadium, Eugenia and Antonios Theodotou" in honour of the stadium's major benefactors. The stadium served as the home stadium for the Nicosia football clubs of Enosis Neon Trust, Trust, APOEL F.C., APOEL, Olympiakos Nicosia, AC Omonia, Omonia, Orfeas Nicosia, Armenian Young Men's Association, AYMA and Çetinkaya Türk S.K. GSO Stadium or Gymnastic Club Olympia Stadium (; Γ.Σ.Ο.) was a stadium in Limassol, Cyprus. History In July 1892, a group of locals founded the gymnastics club "Olympia" (GSO), which is the oldest gymnastics club in Cyprus and the second oldest in the Greek speaking world, after Panellinios G.S. which was founded in 1891. The stadium was constructed in 1898 and opened in 1899 with the event of the 3rd Pancyprian Athletics Games. The gym then had a perimeter track about 300 meters and a capacity of 700 spectators. In 1902 horse racing competitions were held in the stadium, and in 1904 the first flower festival was organized. In 1908 the stadium held the first tennis matches. Alki Larnaca (, ''ALKI Larnakas'') was a Cypriot football club based in the town of Larnaca. The club was founded in 1948 and it was dissolved on the 6th of May 2014 due to financial issues. The club's colours were blue and red. They reached the Cypriot Cup final on five occasions without a win. History 1979 was the best year in club's history. They finished third in the Cypriot Championship and played the final in the Cypriot Cup, losing to APOEL Nicosia, which were also the champions. That gave them the right to play in the UEFA Cup, where they were eliminated in the first round by Dinamo Bucharest.
