(; meaning "Extra Class" in Polish), officially known as PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa due to its Sponsor (commercial), sponsorship by PKO Bank Polski, is a professional association football league in Poland and the highest level of the Polish football league system. Contested by 18 clubs, operating a system of promotion and relegation with the I liga, seasons start in July, and end in May or June the following year. Teams play a total of 34 games each. Games are played on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays. The winner of the qualifies for the Polish Super Cup. Since 2005, the league is operated by the S.A. (corporation), Spółka Akcyjna. Ruch Chorzów
Ruch Chorzów () is a Polish professional association football, football club based in Chorzów, Upper Silesia. It is one of the most successful football teams in Poland, having won fourteen List of Polish football champions, Polish Championships, and the Polish Cup thrice. As of the 2025–26 I liga, 2025–26 season, they compete in the I liga. Ruch's home venue is the Ruch Chorzów Stadium, with a capacity of 9,300 seats. The Rec.Sport.Soccer Statistics Foundation (''RSSSF'') is an international organisation dedicated to collecting statistics about association football. The foundation aims to build an exhaustive archive of football-related information from around the world. Wacław Sąsiadek (4 March 1931 – 2 October 2017) was a Polish association football, footballer who played as a Forward (association football), forward. He also played for the Poland national football team, Poland national team, and was a Manager (association football), manager. Club career Sąsiadek began playing at the youth level with Pogoń Katowice, and ultimately joined the senior team in 1946. In 1949, he played in Ekstraklasa, Liga Polska with Legia Warsaw where he played for five seasons. In 1954, he signed with Polonia Bytom where in his debut season he assisted in securing the List of Polish football champions, Polish championship. Mieczysław Nowak (22 December 1936 – 17 May 2006) was a Polish featherweight weightlifter. He competed at the 1964, 1968 and 1972 Olympics and finished in third, fifth and seventh place, respectively. He won one gold (1970) and two silver medals (1965 and 1966) at world championships, and his Olympic bronze also counted as the world championships bronze in 1964.
