1947 Turkish Football Championship ...
The 1947 Turkish Football Championship was the 13th edition of the competition. It was held in May. Ankara Demirspor won their first and only national championship title by winning the Final Group in Ankara undefeated. The champions of the Istanbul and Ankara regional leagues qualified directly for the Final Group. Adana Demirspor qualified by winning the qualification play-off, which was contested by the winners of the regional qualification groups. The İzmir champions did not participate this year. Turkish Football Championship
The Turkish Football Championship ( tr, Türkiye Futbol Şampiyonası) was a top-level football competition in Turkey. It was the first nationwide championship in Turkish football history. The championship was organised by the Turkish Football Federation (then called ''Futbol Hey'et-i Müttehidesi''). The tournament system was based on a knockout competition, contested between the winners of each of the country's regional leagues. After 1951 and the professionalization of Turkish football, the competition continued under the name Turkish Amateur Football Championship (Turkish: ''Türkiye Amatör Futbol Şampiyonası'') with a completely different status. The İzmir Football League ( tr, İzmir Futbol Ligi) was founded as a regional football league for İzmir based clubs in 1924. In the period from 1924 to 1935, the winners of the İzmir League qualified for the former Turkish Football Championship. In 1937 the first national league in Turkish football was introduced. The top two placed teams of the İzmir League qualified for the National Division, which took place after the conclusion of the regional leagues each season. The name of the league was changed later and became İzmir Professional Football League in the 1955–56 season, when professional football was introduced. The league continued to be played after 1959, though it was no longer a first level competition since the professional nationwide league was introduced in 1959. Gündüz Kılıç
"Baba" Gündüz Kılıç (29 October 1918 – 17 May 1980) was a Turkish football player and coach. He was Ali Kılıç's son and Altemur Kılıç's brother. Biography Born in 1918 in Istanbul, Gündüz Kılıç attended Galatasaray Lycee and then started his football career as a center forward with Galatasaray SK. He was strong, big, well-educated, sophisticated, charismatic, charming and hungry for success. He never looked flashy, yet was never boring. Kılıç was the mastermind behind the rise of Turkish football schooling football players that would become respectable managers after their career. He was also part of Turkey's squad at the 1936 Summer Olympics, but he did not play in any matches. He took a break from his career in 1938, moving to Germany for a university education. Ankara 19 Mayıs Stadium
The Ankara 19 Mayıs Stadium ( tr, Ankara 19 Mayıs Stadyumu) was the home venue of Ankara's Gençlerbirliği. It was built in 1930 and is part of the 19 Mayıs Sports Complex, which is located in the Ulus district. The stadium had a capacity of 19,209 (all-seater). Ankaraspor also used the stadium until they moved to their new venue in the Yenikent district. The stadium was named after the date May 19, 1919, when Mustafa Kemal Atatürk arrived at Samsun to start the Turkish War of Independence. Official ceremonies to celebrate the May 19th Youth and Sports Day were also held at the stadium. In August 2018, demolition of the stadium began in order to make way for a new stadium to be built on the site. Halit Deringör
Halit Deringör (17 July 1922 – 14 March 2018) was a Turkish footballer, who spent his entire playing career with Fenerbahçe in Turkey. His sportsmanship and passion for the game, made him one of the most iconic players in the history of the club. Professional career Deringör begun football as a child. He caught measles, and was kept indoors for 40 days with only a football to play with. He joined the Fenerbahçe youth academy in 1937, and in 1942 joined the senior team. He only played for Fenerbahçe throughout his playing career, finishing his career with 67 goals in 193 games. International career Deringör represented the Turkey national football team 5 times, scoring twice. He made his debut for Turkey in a 3–1 friendly win over Greece on 23 April 1948. Fikret Kırcan (December 25, 1919 – November 26, 2014) was a Turkish footballer. Adana Demirspor Kulübü is a sports club based in Adana, Turkey. Founded by railway workers in 1940, the club is competitive in football, watersports, racquet sports and martial arts. Football team's thriving success at the Adana League and the water polo team's unbeaten National League titles in the first three decades, built a large worker fan base in the city and attracted landowners to finance the club. Ankara Demirspor is a Turkish professional football club based in Ankara. They compete in the TFF Second League. They were one of the Super League's founding members in 1959. By winning the former Turkish Football Championship in 1947, they became Turkish champions for the first and only time.
