Joseph Deiss
Joseph Deiss (born 18 January 1946) is a Swiss economist and politician who served as a Member of the Swiss Federal Council from 1999 to 2006. A member of the Christian Democratic People's Party (CVP/PDC), he first headed the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (1999–2002) before transferring to the Federal Department of Economic Affairs (2003–2006). Deiss was elected President of the United Nations General Assembly for its 65th session in 2010. Political career Legislative and local experience Joseph Deiss started his political career in 1981 as a representative of his party in the Grand Council of Fribourg. In 1991 he became the president of the cantonal parliament for one year. Between 1982 and 1996 Deiss assumed the mayorship of his home village Barberêche. Louis Zutter
Jules Alexis "Louis" Zutter (2 December 1865 – 10 November 1946) was a Swiss gymnast. He competed at the 1896 Summer Olympics in Athens. Zutter won one of the events, the pommel horse. He was also the runner-up in two more events, the vault and the parallel bars. In addition, he competed in the horizontal bar event, but without success. He was born in Les Ponts-de-Martel and lived in Peseux, where he was a member of the gymnastics club ''La Société des Amis gymnastes de Neuchâtel''. In 1893 his father was hired as a trainer in Panachaikos Gymnastikos Syllogos and Louis became a member of the club. After his success in the 1896 Olympics, he was honoured in Patras with the Greek athletes by the city. Moritz Leuenberger
Moritz Leuenberger (born 21 September 1946) is a Swiss politician and lawyer who served as a Member of the Swiss Federal Council from 1995 to 2010. A member of the Social Democratic Party (SP/PS), he was President of the Swiss Confederation in 2001 and 2006. Leuenberger headed the Federal Department of Environment, Transport, Energy and Communications for the whole of his tenure as a Federal Councillor. Career A lawyer by occupation, Moritz Leuenberger managed his firm in Zürich until 1991. He was successively elected to the Zürich City Council (1974–1983), National Council (1979–1995) and Zürich Cantonal Government (1991–1995), where he headed the Department of Home Affairs and Justice. Ernst Nobs (14 July 1886, in Seedorf, Bern – 15 March 1957) was a Swiss politician. Nobs was involved in the 1918 Swiss general strike. In 1919, a military court found him guilty of publishing subversive texts and sentenced him to four weeks in prison. He was the mayor of Zürich from 1942 to 1944. Eduard Von Steiger
Adolf Eduard von Steiger (; 2 July 1881 – 10 February 1962) was a Swiss lawyer and politician who served as the 51st President of the Swiss Confederation twice in 1945 and 1951 for Party of Farmers, Traders and Independents (presently known as Swiss People's Party). Von Steiger served as a Member of the Federal Council from 1941 to 1951 and previously on the Grand Council of Bern from 1914 to 1939. Most notably he is known for his policy towards the immigration of Jewish refugees during World War II trying to enter Switzerland fleeing Nazism. Von Steiger was against the immigration of Jews and was known for his sentence "the boat is full" (which was later turned into the movie The Boat Is Full).
