The 1945 Nova Scotia general election was held on 23 October 1945 to elect members of the 43rd House of Assembly of the Province of Nova Scotia, Canada. It was won by the Liberal party. The dissolution of a legislative assembly is the mandatory simultaneous resignation of all of its members, in anticipation that a successive legislative assembly will reconvene later with possibly different members. In a democracy, the new assembly is chosen by a general election. Dissolution is distinct on the one hand from abolition of the assembly, and on the other hand from its adjournment or prorogation, or the ending of a legislative session, any of which begins a period of inactivity after which it is anticipated that the same members will reassemble. John Alexander McDonald (politician)
John Alexander McDonald (September 24, 1889 – April 16, 1962) was a farmer and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Kings County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1920 to 1925, and again from 1933 to 1945 as a Liberal member. McDonald sat for King's division in the Senate of Canada from 1945 to 1962. Career McDonald was minister without portfolio from 1923 to 1925 and Minister of Agriculture from 1933 to 1945 in the province's Executive Council. Queens is a provincial electoral district in Nova Scotia, Canada which existed between 1867 and 2013 and since 2021. It elects one member to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. The electoral district includes the entirety of Queens County and a small part of Annapolis. The electoral district was abolished following the 2012 electoral boundary review and was largely replaced by the new electoral district of Queens-Shelburne. Harry Dennis Madden
Harry Dennis Madden (January 23, 1895 – November 28, 1945) was a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of Queens in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1941 to 1945. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party. Life Madden was born in 1895 at Amherst, Nova Scotia. He was educated at St. Francis Xavier University and Dalhousie University, and was a druggist by career. He married Marion Campbell in 1924. Madden served as mayor of Liverpool for four years. Madden entered provincial politics in the 1941 election, defeating Conservative incumbent John J. Cameron John Joseph Cameron (December 13, 1876 – August 18, 1957) was a Canadian politician. Douglas MacDonald (1900–1996) was a farmer, miner and political figure in Nova Scotia, Canada. He represented Cape Breton Centre in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1939 to 1945 as a Co-operative Commonwealth Federation member. Glace Bay-Dominion is a provincial electoral district in Nova Scotia, Canada, that elects one member of the Nova Scotia House of Assembly. The Member of the Legislative Assembly since 2021 is John White of the Progressive Conservative Party of Nova Scotia.
