Winnipeg Blue Bombers
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers are a professional Canadian football team based in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Blue Bombers compete in the Canadian Football League (CFL) as a member club of the league's West Division (CFL), West division. They play their home games at Princess Auto Stadium. The Blue Bombers were founded in 1930 as the Winnipeg Rugby Football Club, later changed to the Winnipeg Football Club, which is the organization's legal name. The Blue Bombers are one of two Community ownership, community owned teams, without shareholders, in the CFL. Since their establishment, the Blue Bombers have won the Grey Cup championship 12 times, most recently in 2021 CFL season when they defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 33–25 in the 108th Grey Cup. Vancouver Athletic Club Football Team
The Vancouver Athletic Club football team (''the Wolves'') was a Canadian football that played in the British Columbia Rugby Football Union and the Western Canada Rugby Football Union from 1929 to 1936. The team was part of the popular and successful Vancouver Athletic Club, which fielded teams in several other sports. The ''Vancouver Athletic Club'' were a very successful team, winning 3 championships in 8 seasons. Vancouver ''Knights of Columbus'' football team No sooner had the ''Vancouver Athletic Club'' team disbanded, than a couple days later the ''Knights of Columbus'' football team was founded, with most of their players. While the players were very much the same, the team was supported by the venerable service organization and was a distinctively separate club. Tony Golab
Anthony Charles Golab, (January 17, 1919 – October 16, 2016) was a Canadian football halfback and flying wing who played in the Ontario Rugby Football Union and Interprovincial Rugby Football Union for 11 years with the Sarnia Imperials, Ottawa Rough Riders, and Ottawa Uplands. He was born in Windsor, Ontario. Golab played with the Ottawa Rough Riders from 1939 to 1950. He was part of the 1939, 1941, and 1948 Grey Cup finalist teams and was part of the winning 1940 Grey Cup champions. He was an Eastern All-Star at halfback in 1938, 1940, and 1945 and at flying wing in 1947 and 1948. In 1964, he was elected to the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. In 1975, he was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame. In 1985, he was made a Member of the Order of Canada. Red Storey
Roy Alvin "Red" Storey, (March 5, 1918 – March 15, 2006) was a Canadian athlete, referee and broadcaster. He played football, lacrosse and ice hockey. While active as an athlete, he turned to officiating in all three sports, and continued as an official after the end of his playing career. While he was a member of the Toronto Argonauts, the team won the Grey Cup championship twice. He refereed in the National Hockey League, and later became a radio and television commentator for Canadian television. Early life and career Born in Barrie, Ontario, Storey was working in a rail yard when he received an offer to play football with the Toronto Argonauts. He was on the team for six seasons from 1936 to 1941, winning the Grey Cup in 1937 and 1938. Bill Davies (Canadian Football)
Bill Davies (January 25, 1916 – May 28, 1990) was an all-star football player in the Ontario Rugby Football Union and the Interprovincial Rugby Football Union, playing from 1936 to 1946. Coming straight from high school in 1936, Davies first suited up for the Montreal Indians. He ended up playing for nearly every team in his hometown: Montreal Nationals, Montreal Royals, Montreal Bulldogs, Verdun Grads and the Montreal Hornets. Davies best season was with the winless Montreal Royals in 1939. William Stukus (May 15, 1916 – June 19, 2003) was a Canadian football quarterback. Stukus started with the Toronto Argonauts, winning a Grey Cup in 25th Grey Cup, 1937 and 26th Grey Cup, 1938, and being named an all-star. Perhaps his best season was in 1942, with the wartime all-military Toronto RCAF Hurricanes, when he was an all-star, won 30th Grey Cup, a third Grey Cup and was the Ontario Rugby Football Union Ontario Rugby Football Union#Imperial Oil Trophy - Most Valuable Player, Imperial Oil Trophy winner as MVP. Ross Trophy
The Art Ross Trophy is awarded to the National Hockey League (NHL) player who leads the league in points at the end of the regular season. It was presented to the league by former player, general manager, and head coach Art Ross. The trophy has been awarded 70 times to 29 players since its introduction in the 1947–48 NHL season.
