1927 Suvanto, provisional designation , is a stony Eunomian asteroid from the central region of the asteroid belt, approximately 12 kilometers in diameter. It was discovered on 18 March 1936, by Finnish astronomer Rafael Suvanto at the Turku Observatory in Southwest Finland. The asteroid was posthumously named in honor of the discoverer. Orbit and classification ''Suvanto'' is a member of the Eunomia family, the most prominent family in the intermediate main-belt, which mostly consists of stony S-type asteroids. It orbits the Sun at a distance of 2.3–3.0  AU once every 4 years and 4 months (1,577 days). Its orbit has an eccentricity of 0.15 and an inclination of 13 ° with respect to the ecliptic. Pallas ( minor-planet designation: 2 Pallas) is the third-largest asteroid in the Solar System by volume and mass. It is the second asteroid to have been discovered, after Ceres, and is a likely remnant protoplanet. Like Ceres, it is believed to have a mineral composition similar to carbonaceous chondrite meteorites, though significantly less hydrated than Ceres. It is 79% the mass of Vesta and 22% the mass of Ceres, constituting an estimated 7% of the mass of the asteroid belt. Its estimated volume is equivalent to a sphere in diameter, 90–95% the volume of Vesta. Eunomia Asteroids
In Greek mythology, Eunomia ( grc, Εὐνομία) was a minor goddess of law and legislation (her name can be translated as "good order", "governance according to good laws"), as well as the spring-time goddess of green pastures (''eû'' means "well, good" in Greek, and νόμος, ''nómos'', means "law", while pasturelands are called ''nomia''). The Battle of Summa was fought between the Soviet Union and Finland, in two phases, first in December 1939 and then in February 1940. It was part of the Winter War and was fought near the village of Summa (now Soldatskoye) along the main road leading from Leningrad to Viipuri. Yrjö Väisälä
Yrjö Väisälä (; 6 September 1891 – 21 July 1971) was a Finnish astronomer and physicist. His main contributions were in the field of optics. He was also active in geodetics, astronomy and optical metrology. He had an affectionate nickname of ''Wizard of Tuorla'' (Observatory/Optics laboratory), and a book with the same title in Finnish describes his works.
