The 1927 Copa del Rey Final was the 27th final of the Spanish cup competition, the Copa del Rey. The final was played at Torrero, in Zaragoza, on 15 May 1927. Real Unión beat Arenas Club de Getxo 1–0 and won their fourth and last title. The only goal of the match was scored in extra-time by José Echeveste. Summary On 15 May, the Real Unión de Irún played against the Arenas Club de Guecho at the Estadio Torrero, Zaragoza, which presented a packed stadium at five in the afternoon. This meeting went down in history because it was the first to be broadcast on the radio, specifically by ''Unión Radio de Madrid''. The Irundarras, who had two great figures of the time in their team, such as Gamborenea and René Petit, the latter as an offensive reference, beat Sporting de Gijón in the quarter-finals and then in the semifinal they eliminated Real Madrid with a 2–0 win, courtesy of Gamborenea and Echeveste. Luis Regueiro Pagola ( 1 July 1908 – 6 December 1995), sometimes nicknamed ''Corso'', was a footballer, and an Olympian from the Basque Country in the north of Spain. Football career He began his career in 1924 playing for Real Unión in the Basque Country. He then moved to Madrid FC where he played from 1931 to 1936, scoring 53 goals in 92 matches; from 1932 onwards, his teammates included his younger brother Pedro. Pedro Regueiro Pagola ( 19 December 1909 – 11 June 1985) was a Spanish footballer who played as a midfielder. Football career Born in Irun in the Basque Country, Regueiro started his playing career at Real Unión in 1925. He moved for one season to Real Betis in 1929, after which he returned to Real Unión for two more seasons. In 1932 he moved to Real Madrid where he played with his older brother Luis Regueiro. A penalty kick (commonly known as a penalty or a spot kick) is a method of restarting play in association football, in which a player is allowed to take a single shot at the goal while it is defended only by the opposing team's goalkeeper. It is awarded when an offence punishable by a direct free kick is committed by a player in their own penalty area. The shot is taken from the penalty mark, which is 11 m (12 yards) from the goal line and centred between the touch lines.
