Football Canada is the governing body for gridiron football in Canada headquartered in Ottawa, Ontario. Football Canada focuses primarily its own Canadian form of the sport, and is currently the world's only national governing body for Canadian football. Winnipeg Tammany Tigers
The Winnipeg Tammany Tigers football team was a Canadian football team in Winnipeg, Manitoba that played in the Manitoba Rugby Football Union and Western Canada Rugby Football Union between 1913 and 1929. On May 14, 1930, the Tammany Tigers disbanded due to financial difficulties and a month later was reorganized as a new team: the Winnipegs. The team was part of one of the most successful and popular sports clubs in the city, the ''Tammany Tigers Athletic Association'', which also fielded championship lacrosse, baseball and ice hockey teams. The Association first fielded a football team in 1910, and had junior and intermediate teams for 3 seasons. Led by popular coach and World War I veteran Leland 'Tote' Mitchell, the team managed to win two MRFU championships and played in the 13th Grey Cup game, losing to the Ottawa Senators 24–1. Harry "Red" Batstone (September 5, 1899 – March 10, 1972) was a Canadian football player who played three seasons in the Interprovincial Rugby Football Union for the Toronto Argonauts and six seasons in the intercollegiate union for Queen's University. Varsity Stadium is an outdoor collegiate stadium located in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located at the "Varsity Centre & Arena", a sports complex at the University of Toronto's St. George Campus. Toronto Parkdale was an amateur Canadian football and hockey club based in the Parkdale neighbourhood in the west end of Toronto. As a branch of the Parkdale Canoe Club established in August 1905, the club's hockey and football teams were nicknamed the Paddlers. They were also known colloquially as the West Enders, and as the Green and White, after the team colours. Western Canada Rugby Football Union
The West Division is one of the two regional divisions of the Canadian Football League (CFL), its counterpart being the East Division. With a few exceptions, a senior men's football championship has been contested in Western Canada since 1911, and with a few additional exceptions the Western champion has played the Eastern champion for the Grey Cup. Although its teams have been members of the CFL since 1958, the then-Western Football Conference remained a distinct legal entity until 1981.
