''1921'' is a 2021 Chinese historical film directed by Huang Jianxin and Zheng Dasheng and starring Huang Xuan, Ni Ni, Wang Renjun and Liu Haoran. The film premiered in China on 1 July 2021, to commemorate the centennial year anniversary of the Chinese Communist Party. Plot elements The film tells the story of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party at the 1st National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party held in Shanghai. Among the events highlighted in the film are Mao Zedong's role in founding the '' Xiangjiang Review'', one of the Party's first publications. Cast Production Shooting began on 1 July 2020 and took place in Shanghai and finished filming on November 5 of that same year. Li Hanjun ( zh, s=李汉俊, p=Lǐ Hànjùn; 1890 – December 17, 1927) was an alternate member of the 3rd Central Executive Committee of the Chinese Communist Party. He was the younger brother of Li Shucheng. Wang Jinmei ( zh, c=王尽美, p=Wáng Jìnměi; June 14, 1898 – August 19, 1925), born Wang Ruijun, courtesy name Zhuozai, was a Chinese revolutionary and an early participant of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Deng Enming, courtesy name Zhongrao (15 November 1900 – 5 April 1931) was a Communist revolutionary and one of the founders of the Chinese Communist Party. Biography Deng was born on 15 November 1900 in Libo County, Guizhou, Qing dynasty. At the age of sixteen, he left Guizhou for Shandong. In 1918, he enrolled into the Shandong Jinan No.1 High School at Jinan. After the May Fourth Movement, he began to participate in student strikes, and became the editor of his high school's newspaper.
