1916 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship
The 1916 Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship was the 27th staging of the Kilkenny Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Kilkenny County Board. On 24 August 1919, Mooncoin won the championship after a 5–02 to 2–03 defeat of Tullaroan in a final replay. This was their sixth championship title overall and their first title in three championship seasons. Political troubles at the time meant that the championship was not completed until 1919. The Kilkenny County Board decided to also award the winners of the 1916 championship as winners of both the 1917 and 1918 county championship. Mooncoin GAA
Mooncoin GAA Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Mooncoin, County Kilkenny, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the Kilkenny County Board and fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. History Located in the town of Mooncoin, about 10km from Waterford, Mooncoin GAA Club was founded in January 1886. The new club became one of the dominant forces in the Kilkenny SHC in the early years of the competition and developed a strong rivalry with Tullaroan. After losing to Tullaroan in the inaugural Kilkenny SHC final in 1887, Mooncoin claimed their first title in 1888. The club subsequently won the Leinster SHC as the Kilkenny representatives. Ned Doyle (hurler)
Edmond Doyle (born 28 August 1877) was an Irish hurler who played as a defender as a forward for the Kilkenny senior team. Doyle made his first appearance for the team during the 1903 championship and was a regular member of the starting for the next few seasons until his retirement after the 1912 championship. During that time he won six All-Ireland medals and five Leinster medals. Dick Grace (Tullaroan)
Dick Grace (10 August 1890 – 1 December 1974) was an Irish sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Tullaroan and was a member of the Kilkenny senior inter-county team from 1909 until 1926. Grace is one of only a handful of players to have won All-Ireland medals in each of three decades. Biography Dick Grace was born in Tullaroan, County Kilkenny in 1891. He was educated at the local national school and, in time, would go on to become one of his county’s greatest-ever hurlers. The Graces of Tullaroan were synonymous with both hurling and Gaelic football. Between them the three brothers – Dick, Jack and Pierce - won a total of 15 All-Ireland senior medals – eight in hurling and seven in football. Knocktopher (historically ''Knocktofer'' and ''Knocktover''; ) is a village in County Kilkenny, Republic of Ireland, Ireland.
