Sherman is a city in and the county seat of Grayson County, Texas, United States. The city's population in 2020 was 43,645. It is one of the two principal cities in the Sherman–Denison metropolitan area, Sherman–Denison metropolitan statistical area, and is the largest city in the Texoma region of North Texas and southern Oklahoma. History Sherman was named after General Sidney Sherman (July 23, 1805 – August 1, 1873), a hero of the Texas Revolution. The ''Waxahachie Daily Light'' is a newspaper serving Ellis County, Texas. History The ''Waxahachie Daily Light'' started publishing in 1867 and it is the only paper serving Ellis County that started before 1900 and is still operating today. Though papers such as the ''Waxahachie Argus'', the ''Enterprise'', and the ''Telegraph'' preceded the ''Waxahachie Daily Light'', by 1917 only the ''Enterprise'' and the ''Daily Light'' were still in operation. In 1962, the ''Waxahachie Daily Light'' became part of Craco, Inc. and Donald L. Coppedge became co-publisher of the paper with Craig Woodson. In 1969, the paper purchased machinery and equipment for printing papers and began printing in off-set and later in four-colors. The ''Houston Post'' was a newspaper that had its headquarters in Houston, Texas, United States. In 1995, the newspaper shut down, and its assets were purchased by the ''Houston Chronicle''. History Gail Borden Johnson founded the ''Houston Post'' on February 19, 1880. He expanded the paper by acquiring the Houston ''Telegraph'', the legacy of the '' Telegraph and Texas Register'', which operated the first press in Texas after the Texas Revolution. By 1884, however, the paper was financially distressed, when William R. Baker led a group of investors to bail out the publication. The TCU–Texas A&M football rivalry is an American college football rivalry between the TCU Horned Frogs and Texas A&M Aggies. After 72 consecutive meetings as members of the Southwest Conference (SWC) from 1924 to 1995, the series has yet to be scheduled in the regular season as a non-conference game since the SWC disbanded in 1996. Carroll Field
Carroll Field was an exhibition ground in Waco, Texas, owned by Baylor University; the Baylor Bears football program played games there from 1902 to 1925, with the exception of 1906 when football was banned on campus, and from 1930 to 1935. Following the construction of the Carroll Science Building in 1902, the field was located between the building and Waco Creek; the field took over as the location of football games from an unnamed field adjacent to and northwest of Old Main. Lee Carroll made a donation for the field to be constructed, and his father and grandfather had also donated to build the Carroll Science Building and Carroll Library.
