Harvey Holmes
Harvey Robson Holmes (January 16, 1873 – May 10, 1948) was an American football player and coach of football, baseball, and track. He served as the head football coach the University of Utah, (1900–1903), the University of Southern California (1904–1907), and the Academy of Idaho—now known as Idaho State University—(1909–1914), compiling a career college football record of 60–24–4. Holmes was the head baseball coach at Utah from 1901 to 1904 and at USC in 1908, tallying a career college baseball mark of 21–11. In addition, he served as the head track coach at USC from 1905 to 1908. Early life and playing career Holmes was born in Geneva, Minnesota. 1905 College Football Season
The 1905 college football season had the Chicago Maroons retroactively named as national champion by the Billingsley Report, the Helms Athletic Foundation, the National Championship Foundation, and the Houlgate System, while Yale was named champion by Parke H. Davis and Caspar Whitney. Chicago finished the season 11–0, while Yale finished 10–0. The team played their home games at Stanford Field in Stanford, California. The 1905 season marked the first meeting between Stanford and USC. Consequently, Stanford is USC's oldest existing rival. Sherman Indian High School
Sherman Indian High School (SIHS) is an off-reservation boarding high school for Native Americans. Originally opened in 1892 as the Perris Indian School, in Perris, California, the school was relocated to Riverside, California in 1903, under the name Sherman Institute. When the school was accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges in 1971, it became known as Sherman Indian High School. Fiesta Park
Fiesta Park was a grandstand and sports and entertainment venue in South Park, Los Angeles, California. From 1894 to 1916, it served as venue for various exhibitions and festivals, as well as a field for USC Trojans football games. History Fiesta Park was located in a block bordered by Grand Avenue, 12th Street, Hope Street, and Pico Boulevard.
