1902–03 Madrid FC Season
The 1902–03 season was Real Madrid CF, Madrid Football Club's List of Real Madrid C.F. seasons, 1st season in existence. The club played some friendly matches against local clubs. Madrid FC also played their first match outside of the Community of Madrid against Club Español de Fútbol (now RCD Espanyol) in Barcelona. The club also participated in the inaugural editions of the Copa del Rey and the Campeonato Regional Centro, ''Campeonato de Madrid'' (Madrid Championship). José Giralt
José Giralt Iduate (March 1884 – 24 January 1960), also known as Patache Giralt, was a Cuban-born Spanish footballer who played as a defender and midfielder for Madrid FC, Club Español de Madrid and RCD Espanyol. He was a member of some of the oldest football entities in Spain, such as Sky Football, Madrid Football Club and the Club Deportivo Español, being a founding member of the first two. His brothers, Mario and Armando, also played for Madrid FC, with José and the latter being the most renowned and well-known, in fact, they pretty much followed the same sporting path until their retirement. The New Foot-Ball Club, especially known by its original name of (Society) Foot-ball Sky, was a Spanish football club based in Madrid that was founded in 1897 by Cambridge and Oxford University graduates, and dissolved in 1903 due to internal differences and numerous splits in its 6-year history. In 1900, a conflict between Sky Football members caused some of them to leave and found a new club that would later become Real Madrid, and in 1901, a new split within the club led to the creation of Club Español de Madrid, and finally, in January 1903, a new and definitive split led to the disappearance of the club, with New's best players founding Internacional Foot-ball Club. Enrique Normand
Enrique Normand Faurie (4 December 1885 – 14 October 1955) was a Franco-Spanish footballer who played as a midfielder. He was a historic player for Real Madrid (then known as Madrid Football Club) during the 1900s and 1910s, playing with the club for 13 years, and winning the Copa del Rey four times in a row, between 1905 and 1908. After he retired he settled in Seville, where he was a director of Real Betis. He was also an industrial engineer at the service of the Spanish Treasury, spending a few years in Barcelona as a Treasury delegate and inspector.
