Georgy Malenkov
Georgy Maximilianovich Malenkov (8 January 1902 O.S. 26 December 1901">Old_Style_and_New_Style_dates.html" ;"title="/nowiki>Old Style and New Style dates">O.S. 26 December 1901ref name=":6"> – 14 January 1988) was a Soviet politician who briefly led the Soviet Union after Joseph Stalin's death in 1953. After one week, Malenkov was forced to give up control of the party apparatus, but continued to serve as Premier of the Soviet Union. He then entered a power struggle with the party's First Secretary Nikita Khrushchev which culminated in Malenkov's removal from the premiership in 1955 as well as the Presidium in 1957. Malenkov served in the Red Army during the Russian Civil War and joined the Communist Party in 1920. From 1925, he served in the staff of the party's Organizational Bureau ( Orgburo), where he was entrusted with overseeing member records; this role led to his heavy involvement in facilitating Stalin's purges of the party in the 1930s. Isaac Andreyevich Chatzkin (1832 – June 1902) was a Russian Jewish medical doctor. He was born, died at Medical Society of Odessa and a corresponding member of the Medical Society of Kherson. Chatzkin distinguished himself by several literary productions. In 1858 his letters on physiology appeared in ''The Russian Messenger''. In addition, he published Russian translations of the ''Introduction to Medical Science'', by Professor Hermann Lebert, and Rudolf Virchow Rudolf Ludwig Carl Virchow ( ; ; 13 October 18215 September 1902) was a German physician, anthropologist, pathologist, prehistorian, biologist, writer, editor, and politician. Yitzhak Yitzhaky (; 11 October 1902 – 21 September 1955) was an Israeli politician who served as a member of the Assembly of Representatives and Knesset. Biography Born Yitzhok Lishovsky in Rîbnița in the Russian Empire (today in Moldova), Yitzhaky served in the Red Army in the Russian Civil War. A member of HeHalutz, he helped organise Jewish self-defence against pogroms. He emigrated to Palestine in 1921, and joined Gdud HaAvoda, in which he worked draining swamps, building roads and construction. He became one of the leaders of the Left Poale Zion movement, and returned to Europe as an emissary for it in 1925. In 1934 he was amongst the founders of the Marxist Circles movement, and also helped establish the League for Arab-Jewish Co-operation. He later helped initiate the merger of Left Poale Zion and Ahdut HaAvoda, and was amongst the Mapam leadership after it was formed by a merger of Ahdut HaAvoda-Poale Zion and the Hashomer Hatzair Workers Party File:Pre-State_Zi ...
