18th Niue Assembly
The 18th Niue Assembly is the current term of the Niue Assembly. Its composition was determined by the 2023 Niuean general election, general election on 29 April 2023. Election of Assembly The 20 members of the Niue Assembly, Assembly are elected by two methods; 14 are elected from single-member consistencies using first-past-the-post voting and six are elected from a single nationwide constituency by multiple non-transferable vote. There are no political parties in Niue. Historically, elections have occurred triennially in May or June; however, in late 2022, Premier of Niue Dalton Tagelagi indicated that he was considering holding elections early, in February or March 2023. The rationale for this shift would be to give the government more time to prepare and pass the budget before the end of the country's fiscal year in June. Niue (, ; niu, Niuē) is an island country in the South Pacific Ocean, northeast of New Zealand. Liku, Niue
Liku is one of the fourteen villages of Niue, located close to the easternmost part of the island. It lies due east of the capital, Alofi, and its population at the 2017 census was 98. Geography Liku is connected to the capital by a road which traverses the centre of the island. It is also - along with Lakepa, six kilometres to the north and Hakupu, 10 kilometres to the south - one of three villages on the east coast road which connects Vaiea in the south with Mutalau on the north coast. Hakupu
Hakupu is one of the fourteen villages of the island of Niue. According to the 2017 census, it has a population of 220, making it the second-largest village in Niue. Tamakautoga
Tamakautoga is one of the fourteen villages within the Pacific Ocean island nation of Niue. Tamakautoga is located in the southwestern portion of the island and borders the villages of Avatele, Hakupu, and Niue's capital, Alofi, meeting all three at a quadripoint. The village's population at the 2017 census was 160, up from 136 in 2011. This number has fallen significantly from the 19th century which was reported to be 275 in an 1899 mission census.
