The 1893–94 Oregon football team represented the University of Oregon in the winter and spring following the 1893 college football season.McCann, Michael C. (1995). Students from the University of Oregon attended the game between Stanford and Multnomah on New Year's Day, 1894, at Multnomah Field in Portland. After the game they determined to field a team for the university. Unwilling to wait until the 1894 season in the fall, the students set about practicing in the winter and scheduled a game vs. Albany College. Cal Young
Cal Marcellus Young (June 25, 1871 – January 30, 1957), sometimes known as "Mr. Eugene," or "Mr. Lane County," was an American college football coach and a pioneer of Eugene, Oregon. He was the first head football coach at the University of Oregon. Early years Young's parents, Charles Walker Young and Mary B. W. (Gillespie) Young, were pioneers of Eugene, Oregon, having settled there in 1852. Young was born in a log cabin on his father's donation land claim in 1871. He attended Bishop Scott Academy (later known as the Hill Military School) in Portland, Oregon. He was a student there from the age of 15 for five years, and was a teacher at the school for two years. For six years, Young owned a meat market in Eugene. He also worked in the Blue River mines for a year and a half, and as the manager of the Heilig Theatre in Portland from 1903 to 1905. The 1893 college football season was the season of American football played among colleges and universities in the United States during the 1893–94 academic year. The 1893 Princeton Tigers football team, led by captain Thomas Trenchard, compiled a perfect 11–0 record, outscored opponents by a total of 270 to 14, and has been recognized as the College football national championships in NCAA Division I FBS, national champion by the Billingsley Report, Helms Athletic Foundation, Houlgate System, and National Championship Foundation. 1893 Stanford Football Team
The 1893 Stanford football team represented Stanford University in the 1893 college football season. Led by C. D. Bliss, Stanford was undefeated, with one tie against rival California.Results from Season summary The previous season, Stanford was coached by Walter Camp, who had agreed to coach the team on the condition that he complete coaching Yale's football season first. For the 1893 season, Camp returned to the East Coast and Stanford hired C. D. "Pop" Bliss, who had played halfback for Camp's team at Yale and had just graduated. Led by Bliss, Stanford dominated its opponents, outscoring them 284–17 with seven shutouts and only one blemish: a tie with rival California.
