1885–86 FA Cup
The 1885–86 Football Association Challenge Cup was the 15th edition of the FA Cup, England's oldest football tournament. There were 130 entrants, sixteen more than in the previous season, although six teams did not play a match. Five Scottish clubs entered but one was eliminated in the first round in an all-Scottish tie and travel constraints caused the rest to withdraw. Blackburn Rovers became the second team to win the competition in three successive seasons and, as of 2024, they remain the last to do so. Andrew Amos
The Reverend Andrew Amos MA (20 September 1863 – 2 October 1931) was an English amateur footballer who played for Cambridge University, Old Carthusians, Corinthian and Hitchin Town, as well as making two appearances for the England national side. He subsequently became an ordained minister in the Church of England Career Education Amos was born in Southwark, London and was educated at Charterhouse School, where he was a member of the school football team in 1882. He then went up to Clare College, Cambridge and was awarded his blue in 1884. Football career After graduating he played football for the Old Carthusians as well as joining the Corinthian amateur club which had been founded two years earlier. He joined Corinthian in time for their December 1884 tour of the north of England when they played seven matches against professional clubs in eight days. George Brann
George Brann (23 April 1865 – 14 June 1954) was an English amateur cricketer and footballer who had a long career with Sussex County Cricket Club at the end of the 19th century, and played three matches for the England national football team. Education Brann was born in Eastbourne, East Sussex and was educated at Ardingly College, near Haywards Heath, West Sussex, where he spent ten years and represented the school at football. Football career After leaving school he joined the Swifts based in Slough, who in 1890 merged with Slough Albion and Young Men's Friendly Society to form a new club, Slough F.C., who later became Slough Town. Being an amateur, Brann was free to play for more than one club, and he joined the famous amateur club Corinthian in 1885. He made his first appearance for them in a 3–1 defeat against Preston North End on 28 November 1885.
