Ruth Gustafson
Ruth Valborg Maria Gustafson née ''Pettersson'' (8 July 1881 – 5 April 1960), was a Swedish politician (Social Democrat), union worker, women's rights activist and editor. She was a member of the Stockholm city council from 1919 to 1938, a member of the second chamber of parliament from 1933 to 1960, and editor of the social democratic paper ''Morgonbris'' from 1908 to 1910 and 1919 to 1921. She was a member of the National Association for Women's Suffrage from 1902 to 1921, and a speaker of the left wing within the movement. Life and career Ruth Gustafson was born to caretaker Fredrik Teodor Pettersson and Anna Lovisa Johansson in Stockholm. She married editor and parliamentarian Hjalmar Albin Gustafson (1883–1961) in 1912 and divorced him in 1934. Sophia Magdalena Gardelius
Sophia Magdalena Gardelius (1804-1881) was a Swedish damaskweaver. She is regarded as a pioneer within the damask weaving technique of Gotland. She married a farmer of Roma parish of Gotland in 1822. When her spouse was ruined, they moved to her parents, and she began to weave and sell damask to support the family. In 1832, she advertised that she manufactured damask for commission and accepted pupils in the art. The art of weaving damask was then new and popular. Gardelius composed her own patterns by mathematic measurements, and her weaving stools were constructed to adjust to her needs to handle a thousand patterns. Lovisa Åhrberg
Maria ''Lovisa'' Åhrberg or ''Årberg'' (17 May 1801 – 26 March 1881) was a Swedish surgeon and doctor. She was lawfully practicing surgeon long before it became formally permitted for women to study medicine at a university in 1870. Lovisa Åhrberg could be regarded as the first female physician in Sweden with formal permit from the authorities to practice medicine: however, she had no formal training, and the first woman physician with a university degree was to be Karolina Widerström. Biography Lovisa Åhrberg was born in Uppsala in Uppland as the daughter of Erik Årberg, a caretaker of the Uppsala University, and the cunning woman Britta Maria Upgren. Karl Gösta Åsbrink (18 November 1881 – 19 April 1966) was a Swedish gymnast and modern pentathlete who won a gold medal in the 1908 Summer Olympics and a silver medal in the 1912 Summer Olympics.
