Frederik Krag
Frederik Krag (6 March 1655 – 24 September 1728) was a Danish nobleman (Baron) and senior civil servant who served kings Frederick IV and Frederick V. He was the Governor-General of Norway, from 1713 until 1722. He is not fondly remembered in Norway due to his attempts to subordinate the farmers there in a similar level of service to that which was common in Denmark of the period. Early life He was born in Flensburg, Schleswig, Denmark (now Schleswig-Holstein, Germany). His father, Erik Krag (1620–72), served as Supreme Secretary of the Danish chancery and his mother, Vibeke Pallesdatter Rosenkrantz (died in 1708) was of the Danish-noble Rosenkrantz line dating back to Knight Neils Rosenkrantz in 1341. Christian Hansen (businessman)
Christian Hansen (7 November 1728 4 May 1810) was a Danish businessman who served as president of Grosserer-Societetet (17751790) and the Council of 32 Men (17951810). In 17711784, he also served as one of the directors of Kjøbenhavns Brandforsikring (Copenhagen Fire Insurance Company). He owned the property Amagertorv 6 in Copenhagen. Early life Hansen was born on 8 November 1728 in Schleswig. Nothing is known about his early years. Career On 10 October 1764, Hansen was granted citizenship as a wholesaler (''grosserer'') in Copenhagen. In the same year, he became a member of Grosserer-Societetet. As of 16 June 1809, the number of wholesale merchants in Copenhagen had increased to 173 (cf. list below). He traded as Hansen, Vett & Compagnie. On 10 May 1771, he replaced Hans Christian Bech as one of the directors of Kjøbenhavns Brandforsikring. On 5 February 1784, he was himself replaced by Jørgen Thomsen Bech. Peter Frederik Suhm
Peter Frederik Suhm (18 October 1728 – 7 September 1798), was a Danish historian. Biography Suhm studied at the University of Copenhagen from 1746 to 1751, and one of his teachers was Ludvig Holberg. In 1749 he translated a comedy of Plautus and a French theatrical piece. In 1751 he traveled to Trondheim together with the Danish historian Gerhard Schøning, with whom he continued to collaborate over the following years. Danish India () was the name given to the forts and Factory (trading post), factories of Denmark (Denmark–Norway before 1814) in the Indian subcontinent, forming part of the Danish overseas colonies. Denmark–Norway held colonial possessions in India for more than 200 years, including the town of Tharangambadi in present-day Tamil Nadu state, Serampore in present-day West Bengal, and the Nicobar Islands, currently part of India's union territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The Danish and Norwegian presence in India was of little significance to the major European powers as they presented neither a military nor a mercantile threat. Dano-Norwegian ventures in India, as elsewhere, were typically undercapitalized and never able to dominate or monopolize trade routes in the same way that British, French, and Portuguese ventures could.
