Frederick IV ( Danish: ''Frederik''; 11 October 1671 – 12 October 1730) was King of Denmark and Norway from 1699 until his death. Frederick was the son of Christian V of Denmark-Norway and his wife Charlotte Amalie of Hesse-Kassel. Early life Frederick was born on 11 October 1671 at Copenhagen Castle as the eldest son of King Christian V and his spouse Charlotte Amalie of Hesse-Kassel. The newborn prince was baptized the same evening with the name Frederick by the royal confessional Hans Leth. His grandfather King Frederick III had died a year and a half before he was born, and as the eldest son of the ruling king he was thus crown prince from birth. At the age of 18, he was given a seat on the Council of State as the heir apparent to the throne. Conrad, Count von Reventlow (21 April 1644 – 21 July 1708) was a Danish statesman who was "Grand Chancellor of Denmark" ( da, Danmarks storkansler), a predecessor title of the Prime Minister of Denmark, from 1699 until his death. His chancellorship occurred during the reign of King Frederick IV. Early life Conrad von Reventlow was the son of Chancellor Ditlev von Reventlow (1660–1664) and his wife, Christine zu Rantzau (1618-1688). He was the brother of chamberlain Count Henning von Reventlow (1640–1705) and Chancellor, Count Ditlev von Reventlow (1654–1701). Military career He attended Academy in Sorø Academy and studied at the University of Orleans (1662). After attending university, Reventlow was called to the Danish Court in 1665, where he rose through various positions of responsibility. In the 1670s, he became a colonel in the Danish military. Christian Christophersen Sehested
Christian Christophersen Sehested (22 Febr. 1666 – 19 July 1740) was a Danish noble and statesman. Biography He was the son of Christoffer Clausen Sehestedt til Nislevgaard paa Fyn (d. 1699). After the death of his father, he inherited the Nislevgaard manor. In 1701 he was married to Charlotte Amalie Gersdorff (b. 1685 d. 1751). Through the marriage, he came to possess Ravnholt manor. His marriage was childless. He became a nobleman '' Hofjunker'' in 1687. In 1694, he was Deputy in the Land and the Applicant's Commission. In 1698 he obtained the State Council title was sent to Stockholm as to replace Jens Juel (1631 –1700). He was called in 1700 to become Foreign Minister. He was the second Grand Chancellor of Denmark from 1708 to 1721. He was preceded by Conrad von Reventlow (1644–1708) and succeeded by Ulrik Adolf Holstein (1664–1737). Ernst Henrich Berling
Ernst Henrich Berling (22 March 1708 – 16 October 1750) was a German- Danish book printer and publisher. From 1749 he published ''Danske Post Tidender,'' which would later become ''Berlingske Tidende.'' Biography Berling was born in Mecklenburg as the son of mounted forest ranger Melchior Christian Berling and Catharina Hennings. He was taught book printing in Lauenburg and in 1731 he was invited to Copenhagen by book printer Johan Jørgen Høpfner, whose stepdaughter Cecilie Cathrine Godiche, daughter of book printer Jørgen Matthiasen Godiche, he married the following year. They founded the Danish Berling Dynasty of printers and publishers. In 1733 he set up a printing business and in 1747 he was appointed Royal Book Printer. On 27 December 1748, he received a license to publish newspapers, Danish, German, French and scholarly, which he had acquired from Inger Wielandt, a printer's widow. ''Berlingske'', previously known as ''Berlingske Tidende'' (, ''Berling's Times''), is a Danish national daily newspaper based in Copenhagen. It is considered a newspaper of record for Denmark. First published on 3 January 1749, ''Berlingske'' is Denmark's, as well as the Nordic region's, oldest continually operating newspaper and among the oldest newspapers in the world. History and profile ''Berlingske'' was founded by Denmark's Royal Book Printer Ernst Henrich Berling and originally titled ''Kjøbenhavnske Danske Post-Tidender'', then the ''Berlingskes Politiske og Avertissements Tidende.'' Frederic Louis Norden
Frederic Louis Norden (22 October 1708 – 22 September 1742) was a Danish naval captain, cartographer, and archaeological explorer. Also known as ''Frederick'', ''Frederik'', ''Friderick'', ''Ludwig'', ''Ludvig'' and ''Lewis'', names used on the publications of his famous '' Voyage d'Egypte et de Nubie''. Biography Norden was born in Holstein-Glückstadt. He entered the Royal Danish Naval Academy at Copenhagen in 1722. He was sent on a study mission abroad in 1732. Norden made a voyage through Egypt all the way down to Sudan in 1737–1738. At the request of King Christian VI of Denmark, he was to enter into a trade agreement with Ethiopia on behalf of Denmark. Norden made abundant notes, observations and drawings of everything around him, including people, pharaonic monuments, architecture, installations and maps. Peter Christian Winsløw
Peter Christian Winsløw (1708 – c. 1756), also referred to as Peder Christensen Winsløw, was a Danish medal engraver. He was part of the Winsløw family. Early life and education Winsløw was born in Bårse, the son of parish priest Christian Pedersen Winsløw (c. 1677-1720) and Catharina Poulsdatter Munchgaard (1675-1703). His paternal uncle was the anatomist Jacob B. Winslow. With support from Christian VI, Winsløw travelled to first England and then Paris where he trained as a medal engraver under Mikkel Røg. Career Winsløw converted to Catholicism and was in 1737 engaged as French court medallist. He mainly worked with renewal of old pistons. He left the position in 1744 when he was called back to Denmark. On 5 July 1745, he was appointed as Danish court medallist.
