168th Field Artillery Regiment
The 168th Field Artillery Regiment was a U.S. Army field artillery regiment of the Colorado National Guard that was active from 1933 to 1943. History The regiment perpetuated the lineage of the 1st Separate Battalion, Field Artillery of the Colorado National Guard, originally organized on 30 September 1911 at Denver with Batteries A and B. The battalion was eliminated on 20 October 1914, with the two batteries becoming separate units. The battalion was reformed by the expansion of the Colorado field artillery units with Batteries A, B, and C on 5 July 1916. It was mustered into federal service at Golden between 4 July and 14 August that year for duty on the Mexican border, and was mustered out of federal service on 6 March 1917 at Fort D. A. Colorado Army National Guard
The Colorado Army National Guard is a component of the United States Army, United States National Guard, and Colorado National Guard. Nationwide, the Army National Guard comprises approximately one half of the US Army's available combat forces and approximately one third of its support organization. National coordination of various state National Guard units is maintained through the National Guard Bureau. Colorado Army National Guard units are trained and equipped as part of the United States Army. 24th Cavalry Division (United States)
The 24th Cavalry Division was a cavalry division of the United States Army, mostly drawn from the National Guards of the Midwest states. It was created after World War I from the perceived need for additional cavalry units. It numbered in succession of the Regular Army divisions, which were not all active at its creation. The 157th Field Artillery Regiment (First Colorado) is a United States Army Regimental System field artillery parent regiment of the Army National Guard, United States Army National Guard, represented in the Colorado Army National Guard by the 3rd Battalion, 157th Field Artillery Regiment, part of the 169th Field Artillery Brigade at Colorado Springs, Colorado, Colorado Springs. 193rd Tank Battalion (United States)
The 193rd Tank Battalion was a battalion of the United States Army during World War II. It was briefly reformed in the Colorado Army National Guard postwar. The unit's history is primarily that of the 193rd Tank Battalion which served in the Pacific theater during World War II with the 27th Infantry Division, throughout, and during the Korean war. Camp Stoneman
Camp Stoneman was a United States Army facility located in Pittsburg, California. It served as a major troop staging area for and under the command of the San Francisco Port of Embarkation (SFPOE). The camp operated during World War II and the Korean War. The camp opened May 28, 1942 as a staging point for units deploying to the Pacific Ocean theater of World War II. The camp was named after George Stoneman, a cavalry commander during the American Civil War and Governor of California. It was decommissioned as a military post in 1954. The camp had a railroad track across the north side for receiving and shipping men. Late in the war the SFPOE experimented with embarking troops directly aboard a Liberty ship at the camp but that was not successful due to difficulties of large ship navigation to the camp. The 158th Field Artillery Regiment is a Field Artillery regiment of the Army National Guard. Lineage The 158th Field Artillery was constituted in the National Guard on 26 February 1920 and assigned to the 45th Division. The regimental headquarters, Headquarters Battery, and Service Battery were allotted to Oklahoma, the 1st Battalion was allotted to Colorado and New Mexico, and the 2nd Battalion was allotted to Arizona (Battery E) and Oklahoma (Headquarters Battery and Combat Train, and Battery F). The regimental headquarters was organized and federally recognized on 15 May 1923 at Tulsa, Oklahoma. 41st Infantry Division (United States)
The 41st Infantry Division was an infantry division of the National Guard of the United States, United States Army National Guard composed primarily of units from the Pacific Northwest. The division saw active service in World War I and World War II, receiving the nickname “Jungleers” during the latter. Organized in 1917 after the American entry into World War I, the division was selected as a replacement division after being deployed to France as part of the American Expeditionary Forces.
