15th Infantry Division (Thailand)
The 15th Infantry Division () (พล.ร.๑๕.) is an infantry division of the Royal Thai Army (RTA) that specialized in border security, combined arms, and counterinsurgency. It is currently a part of the Fourth Army Area. The unit is composed of the 151st Infantry Regiment, 152nd Infantry Regiment and 153rd Infantry Regiment and Service Support Regiment. The division engaged in the South Thailand insurgency. Pattani, Thailand
Pattani is a town (''thesaban mueang'') in the far south of Thailand, near the border with Malaysia. It is the capital of Pattani Province. The city has a population of 44,353 (2018). The King's Guard (; ) is a ceremonial designation given by the Monarchy of Thailand to the various units within the Royal Thai Armed Forces. The Royal Thai Marine Corps or RTMC ( are the marines of the Royal Thai Navy (RTN). The Royal Thai Marine Corps was founded in 1932, when the first battalion was formed with the assistance of the United States Marine Corps (USMC). The 2nd Infantry Division, Queen Sirikit's Guard () (พล.๒ รอ.) also known as Mechanized Infantry Division () is the only Queen's Guard Mechanized Infantry Division of the Royal Thai Army (RTA).
