Commissioner
A commissioner (commonly abbreviated as Comm'r) is, in principle, a member of a commission or an individual who has been given a commission (official charge or authority to do something). In practice, the title of commissioner has evolved to include a variety of senior officials, often sitting on a specific commission. In particular, the commissioner frequently refers to senior police or government officials. A high commissioner is equivalent to an ambassador, originally between the United Kingdom and the Dominions and now between all Commonwealth states, whether Commonwealth realms, republics or countries having a monarch other than that of the realms. The title is sometimes given to senior officials in the private sector; for instance, many North American sports leagues. There is some confusion between commissioners and commissaries because other European languages use the same word for both. Dawson (electoral District)
Dawson electoral district was a territorial electoral district in the Yukon Territory, Canada, which elected a member to the Yukon Territorial Council. The electoral district was created in 1920 by the merger of the former districts of North Dawson and South Dawson. Mayo (electoral District)
Mayo was an electoral district (Canada), electoral district which returned an Member of the Legislative Assembly, MLA to the Yukon Legislative Assembly, Legislative Assembly of the Yukon Territory in Canada. It was created in 1928, at a time when it was one of three districts who elected advisors to the Yukon Territorial Council. The more contemporary, final iteration of the riding was created from an amalgamation of the riding with part of the riding of Klondike (electoral district), Klondike. It was abolished in 1992 when it was amalgamated with the riding of Tatchun (electoral district), Tatchun to form the riding of Mayo-Tatchun. The district included the communities of Mayo, Yukon, Mayo, Keno City, Yukon, Keno, Elsa, Yukon, Elsa, and Stewart Crossing along the Silver Trail. Yukon Legislative Assemblies
Yukon () is a territory of Canada, bordering British Columbia to the south, the Northwest Territories to the east, the Beaufort Sea to the north, and the U.S. state of Alaska to the west. It is Canada’s westernmost territory and the smallest territory by land area. As of the 2021 census, Yukon is the middle territory in terms of population, but the most densely populated. Yukon has an estimated population of 47,126 as of 2025. Whitehorse, the territorial capital, is the largest settlement. Yukon was split from the Northwest Territories by a federal statute in 1898 as the Yukon Territory.
