14th Spetsnaz Brigade
The 14th Guards Separate Special Purpose Brigade Order of Kutuzov () is a spetsnaz military formation of Russia, subordinate to the Spetsnaz GRU. The unit is garrisoned in Ussuriysk, Primorsky Krai. Its military unit number is 74854. It has been reported by the BBC that the unit took part in the Battle of Vuhledar of the Russian Invasion of Ukraine. History The unit was formed on January 1, 1963. Within the Soviet-Afghan War the unit participated from 1984 onwards with over 200 servicemen. They were primarily tasked with denying the Mujahideen supplies from Iran and Pakistan. They participated in both the First Chechen War in January to April 1995 and the Second Chechen War where they were engaged in the Battle of Komsomolskoye. They were active in the Second Chechen War from 1999 to 2006. The First Chechen War, also referred to as the First Russo-Chechen War, was a struggle for independence waged by the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria against the invading Russia, Russian Federation from 1994 to 1996. 2024 Velyka Novosilka Offensive
A military engagement between the Russian Armed Forces and Ukrainian Armed Forces for control over the Ukrainian town of Velyka Novosilka and the nearby area began in November 2024 and ended with the Russian capture of the town in January 2025. Battle Of Komsomolskoye
The Battle of Komsomolskoye took place in Chechnya during the Second Chechen War. Beginning on 6 March 2000 and lasting until 24 March 2000, it resulted in the deaths of more than 50 Russian soldiers and hundreds of Chechen militants over the course of two weeks of siege warfare. An unknown number of civilians were killed in the fighting as well. The fighting resulted in the destruction of most of the Chechen separatist units commanded by Ruslan Gelayev.
