1458 Lite AM
Fortune 1458 was an Independent Local Radio station based in Trafford Park, Manchester, England. History The station began broadcasting in 1994 on the old BBC Radio Manchester medium wave frequency. It was seen as a direct competitor to Piccadilly 1152 as the station focussed on older listeners by broadcasting an easy listening format. Following takeovers, the frequency was the host to several different stations and formats, including Lite 1458, Big AM and Capital Gold. The frequency was last used by Gold (British radio network), Gold until it went off air in late April 2024. Independent Local Radio is the collective name given to commercial radio stations in the United Kingdom. As a result of the buyouts and mergers permitted by the Broadcasting Act 1990, and deregulation resulting from the Communications Act 2003, most commercial stations are now neither independent (although they remain independent from the BBC) nor local, as almost all of them are now relays of a national brand, with all remaining locality reduced to nothing more than a weekday regional programme and localised commercials, news, weather and peak-time travel information. Tommy Docherty
Thomas Henderson Docherty (24 April 1928 – 31 December 2020), commonly known as The Doc, was a Scottish football player and manager. Docherty played for several clubs, most notably Preston North End, and represented Scotland 25 times between 1951 and 1959. He then managed a total of 13 clubs between 1961 and 1988, as well as the Scotland national team. Docherty was manager of Manchester United between 1972 and 1977, during which time they were relegated to the Second Division but promoted back to the First Division as champions at the first attempt. James Hengist Reeve, born 25 June 1950, is an English broadcaster, journalist, raconteur and radio phone-in host. Reeve has hosted shows on Piccadilly Radio, BBC GMR (now BBC Radio Manchester), BBC Radio 5 Live, The New Hallam FM, talkSPORT, TEAMtalk 252 stations and, up until July 2006, presented the late night phone-in show at Key 103. BBC GMR Reeve joined the Manchester BBC Local radio station GMR in April 1995, presenting the afternoon show. In April 1998, he rejected an opportunity to join new station Century Radio to stay with GMR. Susie Mathis (born Susan Mathis; 29 April 1947) is a former singer and radio presenter who, in later years, became a fundraiser for Francis House Children's Hospice, and several other charities in North West England. Music and television career Mathis first appeared in the West End at the age of fifteen and came to fame in March 1968, using the stage name 'Tiger', as the lead singer of the Paper Dolls. They reached number 8 in the UK Singles Chart with " Something Here in My Heart (Keeps A Tellin' Me No)", appearing on ''Top Of The Pops''. David Charles Wish (18 July 1942 – 21 October 2016), known as Dave Cash, was a British-Canadian radio presenter who latterly worked for BBC Radio Kent, having had previous spells at Radio London, BBC Radio 1, Capital London, Radio West (he was launch programme controller at the Bristol station), Invicta Radio, Country 1035 and PrimeTime Radio. Trafford Park
Trafford Park is an area of the metropolitan borough of Trafford, Greater Manchester, England, opposite Salford Quays on the southern side of the Manchester Ship Canal, southwest of Manchester city centre and north of Stretford. Until the late 19th century it was the ancestral home of the De Trafford baronets, Trafford family, who sold it to the financier Ernest Terah Hooley in 1896.
