13th Combat Service Support Battalion
13th Combat Service Support Battalion (13 CSSB) is a unit of the 13th Brigade of the Australian Army Reserve. Located in Western Australia, it is the logistics component of the 13th Brigade. History The battalion was formed in March 1995 and was previously designated the 13th Brigade Administrative Support Battalion. On formation, it consisted of the following sub-units: * 7th Field Ambulance * 10th Transport Squadron * 13th Field Supply Company * 5th Dental Unit * 113th Field Workshop Company 13 CSSB was granted "Freedom of Entry" to the City of Fremantle on 1 October 2001. Its motto is ″Soldiers Supporting Soldiers″. 13th Brigade (Australia)
The 13th Brigade is an Army Reserve formation of the Australian Army. Originally formed in 1912 as a Militia formation in Victoria, the brigade was re-raised as a First Australian Imperial Force unit during World War I and fought on the Western Front. In the interwar years, the brigade was re-raised as a part-time formation based in Western Australia and later fought in the New Britain Campaign during World War II. It is currently headquartered at Perth in Western Australia and has units located across the state in locations such as Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Albany, Katanning, Joondalup and Rockingham. Woylie
The woylie or brush-tailed bettong (''Bettongia penicillata'') is a small, near threatened mammal native to forests and shrubland of Australia. A member of the rat-kangaroo family ( Potoroidae), it moves by hopping and is active at night, digging for fungi to eat. It is also a marsupial and carries its young in a pouch. Once widespread, the woylie mostly died out from habitat loss and introduced predators such as foxes and feral cats. It is currently restricted to two small areas in Western Australia. There were two subspecies: ''B. p. ogilbyi'' in the west, and the now-extinct ''B. p. penicillata'' in the southeast. Taxonomy A species was first described by J. E. Gray in 1837, based on the skin and skull of an adult male obtained by the Zoological Society of London, and placed with the British Museum of Natural History.
