129th Territorial Defense Brigade
The 129th Territorial Defense Brigade () is a military formation of the Territorial Defense Forces (Ukraine), Territorial Defense Forces of Ukraine in Kryvyi Rih. It is part of Operational Command East. History Formation The 101st Defense Battalion of the 108th Territorial Defense Brigade (Ukraine), 108th Territorial Defense Brigade had a peace time strength of 44-46 soldiers and officers. By 25 February its strength was already 545. Colonel Yurii Sinkovskyi commanded the battalion. By 27 February two other battalions were being formed. On 11 March 2022 the battalion, which by this point was a large formation, became the 129th Territorial Defense Brigade. Russo-Ukrainian War 2022 The brigade took part in the liberation of Arkhanhelske, Kherson Oblast, Arkhanhelske and Myroliubivka, Beryslav Raion, Kherson Oblast, Myroliubivka. Staromaiorske ( ; ) is a village in Volnovakha Raion, Donetsk Oblast, eastern Ukraine. It is situated south of the village of Makarivka and on the opposite side of the Mokri Yaly river from the village of Urozhaine. The population at the 2001 census was 839. History The village was founded in the early 18th century as a Cossack settlement of the Zaporozhian Sich. Russo-Ukrainian War Russian invasion of Ukraine During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the village was occupied by Russian forces for over a year. On 27 July 2023, the village was liberated by the 35th Marine Brigade and 7th Battalion Arei of the Ukrainian Volunteer Army of the 129th Kryvyi Rih Defense Brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces in the 2023 Ukrainian counteroffensive. Plyokhovo () is a village in western Russia, in Sudzansky District of Kursk Oblast. Climate Plyokhovo, like the surrounding region, has a humid continental climate with warm summers and relatively warm winters. History In March 2023, videos emerged reportedly showing pro-Ukrainian insurgents in Plyokhovo, where they showed they had allegedly planted landmines in the village and invited Russians to join them, paralleling the recent 2023 Bryansk Oblast attack. Kursk Oblast (, ) is a federal subject of Russia (an oblast). Its administrative center is the city of Kursk. As of the 2021 census, Kursk Oblast had a population of 1,082,458. History The territory of Kursk Oblast has been populated since the end of the last ice age. Slavic tribes of the Severians inhabited the area. Kursk Offensive (2024–2025)
On 6 August 2024, during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, part of the Russo-Ukrainian War, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched an incursion into Russia's Kursk Oblast and clashed with the Russian Armed Forces and Russian border guard. A state of emergency was declared in Kursk Oblast, and Russian reserves were rushed to the area.
