11th Infantry Division (Bangladesh)
The 11th Infantry Division () is a formation of the Bangladesh Army. It has the Bogra Cantonment, the Jahangirabad Cantonment and the Qadriabad Cantonment under its command. The Bogra Cantonment is the HQ of this division. History 11th Infantry Division was inaugurated on 29 March 1976 by then chief of army staff Lieutenant General Ziaur Rahman and appointed Major General Abu Zafar Chowdhury as first general officer commanding. It is the second infantry division of Bangladesh Army. Initially headquartered at Jahangirabad Cantonment, the division was composed of 26th Infantry Brigade, 111th Infantry Brigade and 11th Artillery Brigade. The headquarters shifted to Bogra Cantonmenton 1978 under Major General Amzad Ahmed Chowdhury who also established the Bogra Cantonment Public School and College. Abu Saleh Mohammad Nasim
Abu Saleh Mohammad Nasim BB, psc (born 4 January 1946) is a former Chief of Army Staff of the Bangladesh Army. In 1996, he attempted a military coup of the caretaker government which was preparing for general elections. After failure of the coup in 1996, he was arrested, placed under house arrest, and subsequently dismissed from service. That year, the Awami League was elected to power in the government. It reverted Nasim's dismissal from the military and later provided him with an honorable discharge. Early life Nasim was born on 4 January 1946 in Bikrampur (now Munshiganj district),Dhaka, former British India (Now Bangladesh). He graduated from Faujdarhat Cadet College. East Bengal Regiment
The East Bengal Regiment () is one of the two infantry regiments of the Bangladesh Army, the other being the Bangladesh Infantry Regiment. East Bengal Regiment was founded by Major Abdul Gani. History The East Bengal Regiment was formed on 15 February 1948, following the Partition of India into the Dominion of Pakistan and the Dominion of India in 1947. The core of the unit was made up of soldiers of the Bihar Regiment and the Bengal Pioneer Corps who had opted for Pakistan when partition divided the British Indian Army and the Pakistan Army was born. Sadiqur Rahman Chowdhury was a retired Bangladesh Army major general and former director general of Bangladesh Rifles. Career In the late 1950s and the early 1960s, Chowdhury played at the Azad Sporting Club and patronized the Sonali Otit Club.
