102.2 Smooth FM
102.2 Smooth FM was an Independent Local Radio station for Greater London. It replaced 102.2 Jazz FM on 7 June 2005 at 10 am, with the help of R&B singer Lemar and the then breakfast show host Jon Scragg. The first track played, keeping with the name of the newly launched radio station was Sade Adu's "Smooth Operator", and was owned by the radio division of the Guardian Media Group, GMG Radio. Following disappointing audience figures, the station was closed on 23 March 2007 and relaunched as 102.2 Smooth Radio the following Monday, following a successful format change request to Ofcom to play music oriented at listeners aged 50 and above. 102.2 Smooth FM was available on DAB across London, Central Scotland, the North East of England, South Wales and the Severn Estuary, Yorkshire and the West Midlands, as well as on Freeview channel 718. Ramsey Emmanuel Lewis Jr. (May 27, 1935 – September 12, 2022) was an American jazz pianist, composer, and radio personality. Lewis recorded over 80 albums and received five gold records and three Grammy Awards in his career. His album '' The In Crowd'' earned Lewis critical praise and the 1965 Grammy Award for Best Jazz Performance. His best known singles include " The In Crowd", "Wade in the Water", and "Sun Goddess". Until 2009, he was the host of the ''Ramsey Lewis Morning Show'' on the Chicago radio station WNUA. Lewis was also active in musical education in Chicago. David Stephen Koz (born March 27, 1963) is an American smooth jazz saxophonist, composer, record producer, and radio personality based in California. Early life Dave Koz was born in Encino, California, to Jewish parents: Norman, a dermatologist and Audrey, a pharmacist. Dave has a brother, Jeff, who is also a musician, and a sister, Roberta. Although he is Jewish, Koz plays both Christmas and occasional Hanukkah songs at his concerts. Kevin Greening (30 December 1962 – 29 December 2007) was a British radio presenter, who co-hosted ''Radio 1 Breakfast'' on BBC Radio 1 with Zoe Ball from 13 October 1997 to 25 September 1998. Early career Kevin Greening grew up in Bristol where he worked voluntarily for the Bristol Hospital Broadcasting Service and was educated at Bristol Grammar School. He later studied chemical engineering at St Catharine's College, Cambridge, where he was station manager at Cambridge University Radio. James Reginald Colvin (November 30, 1937 – August 30, 2019) was a former American football defensive tackle in the National Football League (NFL) for the Baltimore Colts, Dallas Cowboys, and New York Giants. Campbell Burnap
Campbell Crichton Mackinnon Burnap (10 September 1939 – 30 May 2008) was an English jazz trombonist, vocalist and broadcaster. Early life Born in Derby, England, Burnap became interested in New Orleans jazz while attending school in Belper. He built up a friendship with the clarinet player Chris Blount, who introduced him to New Orleans veterans Bunk Johnson and George Lewis. Burnap played washboard in the skiffle group formed by Blount along with his classmates as a teenager in England. Career In 1958, aged 19, he moved to New Zealand where he began playing trombone and played in the Omega Jazz Band. He continued to record with them for three years until 1961.
