100th Reconnaissance Brigade
The 100th Separate Guards Reconnaissance Brigade "Sotka" (Russian: 100-я отдельная гвардейская бригада разведки “Сотка”) is a military formation of the Russian Federation. It is part of the 58th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District and is garrisoned in Mozdok, North Ossetia–Alania, Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. History The unit was formed in 2009 as an experimental reconnaissance unit out of experienced personnel from the Russian Airborne Forces (VDV) and Spetsnaz GRU. It is speculated that the organisation was inspired by US armored cavalry type units.
