10.0 Earthquake
''10.0 Earthquake'' is a 2014 American disaster film directed by David Gidali and starring Henry Ian Cusick and Jeffrey Jones. Plot As a series of minor earthquakes start tearing apart Los Angeles, scientist Emily of the USGS theorizes that it is all building to a super quake that will drop the entire city into a lava-filled chasm. Engineer Jack whose daughter has gone camping with her friends in the danger area and whose company is responsible for the quakes due to their deep fracking feels obligated to help, and races with Emily through the increasingly damaged city with the hopes of diverting the epicenter to Long Beach and potentially saving millions of lives in the city of Los Angeles. Lava (established 1977 in Årdal, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz-rock band, known from a series of recordings in the 1980s (Polydor Records). Career The initiators Per Hillestad (drums), Svein Dag Hauge (guitar) were joined by Kjell Hestetun (bass) and Stein Eriksen (keyboards) and released the jazz funk influenced album ''Lava'' (1980), with contributions from Geir Langslet (keyboards) and Olav Stedje (vocals). When Hestetun and Eriksen left the band, the quartet Hauge, Hillestad and Langslet and bassist Rolf Graf continued releasing the album ''Cruisin'' (1981), with contributions by Per Kolstad (piano), Sigurd Køhn (saxophone) and Marius Müller (guitar), and the track «Take Your Time» became Norway and Europe hit. Roman Laskowski
Roman Laskowski (16 February 1936 – 21 June 2014) was a Polish slavist. He was a member of the Polish Academy of Learning, as well as a professor at Jagiellonian University and the University of Gothenburg. Laskowski was also a Solidarity activist. He is one of the most well known Slavic scholars from Poland, and specialized in Polish, Czech, and Linguistic studies. Biography Laskowski was born on 17 February 1936 in Komarno, Ukraine. In 1940, his family was taken to Kazakhstan and went back to Poland in 1946. Roman studied at the high school in Kietrz. He graduated in slavistics from the Jagiellonian University in 1959. He has worked at the University since 1960, and in 1981, he received the title of academic professor. In 2001 he received the title of full professor.
