Haydar (), also spelt Hajdar, Hayder, Heidar, Haider, Heydar, Hyder, and other variants, is an Arabic male given name, also used as a surname, meaning "lion". In Islamic tradition, the name is primarily associated with Ali ibn Abi Talib (first Shia Imam and fourth Rashidun Caliph), the son-in-law and cousin of Muhammad, who was nicknamed "Haydar". Sayyid Haydar Amuli
Sayyid Baha al-Din Haydar, Haydar al-'Obaidi al-Hossayni Amuli, Sayyed Haydar Amoli, or Mir Haydar Amoli () a Shi'ite mystic and a Sufi philosopher, was an early representative of Persian mystic philosophy and one of the most distinguished commentators of the mystic philosopher Ibn Arabi, during the 14th century. Biography Early life Haydar Amuli belongs to the Hussayni Sayyid family and hails from the town of Amol, in Mazandaran, located in the north of present-day Iran, close to the Caspian Sea. The town of Amul at the time was known to be heavily populated by Shi'ite Muslims. At a very young age he started studying Imam Shi'ism and attended the juridical school of ''madhhab'' where he also devoted his time to Sufism, until around the age of thirty. Haydar Khan Amo-oghli Tariverdi (; December 20, 1880 – October 15, 1921) was an Iranian left-wing revolutionary, key figure during the Persian Constitutional Revolution and among the founders of the Communist Party of Persia. Early years A member of the Iranian Tariverdiev family, Haydar was the son of a certain Ali-Akbar. He was generally referred to as "Amo-oghli", a nickname he later in his life received by the workers in Baku. It is uncertain where he was born. Some sources consider Urmia in northwestern Iran to have been his birthplace, while the Iranian historian Abdul-Hadi Hairi consider him to have been born in Russian Armenia. Mohammed Haydar Zammar ( ''Muḥammad Ḥaydar Zammār'') (born 1961) is a Syrian-German militant who served as an important al-Qaida recruiter, and is currently a member of the Islamic State. He claims to have recruited many of the organizers of the September 11 attacks. He was detained in Far'Falastin. Early history Zammar was born in Syria to a religious Muslim family. Haydar Ghazi
Nūr al-Hudā Abū'l-Karāmāt as-Saʿīdī al-Ḥusaynī (), better known as Ḥaydar Ghāzī (, ), was the second vizier, wazir of Sylhet region, Srihat (Sylhet) under the various Sultans of Sonargaon and Gauda (city), Lakhnauti. Prior to this, Ghazi took part in the Conquest of Gour in 1303. Haydar Aşan (16 April 1906 – 29 February 1996) was a Turkish-American Olympic sprinter. He competed in the men's 4 × 100 metres relay at the 1928 Summer Olympics. He also competed as a high jumper, pole vaulter, and professional football player. As a teenager he competed in local athletic championships and began amateur boxing. In 1924, at age 18 he joined the professional Fenerbahçe football team, a year later he changed to the Galatasaray football team and stayed there for ten years. In 1931 and 1932, Aşan won second place in the Balkan Athletics Championships. Ali Haydar Şen
Ali Haydar Şen (born 12 April 1939) is a former president of the Turkish club Fenerbahçe SK. Early life Şen was born to an ethnic Turkish family in Prizren, Kosovo (at the time Kingdom of Yugoslavia). Career He worked as a journalist for a short time, before he first came to Fenerbahçe in 1975, when he was made the head of the club's basketball branch. On 12 April 1981, he was chosen as club president, taking the reins from Razi Trak. During his first spell as club president, the club's football team won the league and cup double in the 1982–83 season, and his tenure ended on 10 December when he resigned. He had one more spell at the club, from December 1994 through until 1998 with the football side again winning a championship a year after he came to power. Haydar Al-Sadr
Ayatollah Haydar al-Sadr (; 1891–1937) was born in Samarra, Iraq. His father, Ismail as-Sadr (d. 1920) was a Grand Ayatollah and the first to be use the as- Sadr surname, which came to be associated with a long line of religious scholarship within Shia Islam. Haydar and the as-Sadr family are also considered as Sayyid, or those who can trace their lineage back to Muhammad (d. 632).
