ʻAta Maama Tuutafaiva
ʻAta Maama Tu’utafaiva (born 25 May 1997 in Haʻafeva) is a Tongan athlete who has represented Tonga at the Commonwealth Games, Pacific Games and Pacific Mini Games. At the 2015 Pacific Games in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea she won bronze in the shot put. At the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Port Vila she won gold in the shot put. In 2018 she competed as a finalist in the 2018 Commonwealth Games. At the 2019 Pacific Games in Apia she won gold in the shot put with her personal best of 16.61 m. She also won bronze in the Discus. Previously, her best was 15.36m, made in Gold Coast during the Commonwealth Games’ final. In 2019, she became the Emerging Athlete of the Year – Female for Oceania Athletics Association. Track And Field
Track and field (or athletics in British English) is a sport that includes Competition#Sports, athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name used in North America is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. 2015 Pacific Games
The 15th Pacific Games, also known as Port Moresby 2015 or POM 2015, was held in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, from 4 to 18 July 2015. It was the fifteenth staging of the Pacific Games as well as the third to be hosted in Port Moresby. More than 3,700 athletes from the 22 Pacific Games Associations plus first time entrants Australia and New Zealand, took part. With almost 300 sets of medals, the games featured 28 sports, 19 of which are on the 2016 Summer Olympics program. 2022 Pacific Mini Games
The 2022 Pacific Mini Games was held in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands. It was the eleventh edition of the Pacific Mini Games and the first to be hosted by the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands. This event was originally going to be held in 2021, but was postponed to 2022 due to COVID-19 pandemic. Host selection The Northern Mariana Islands were awarded the rights to host the games on July 4, 2014 during the Pacific Games Councils General Assembly meeting in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The decision was unanimous after the CNMI were the only bidder after the deadline. Venues and infrastructure Sports An initial twelve sports were scheduled for the games but this was reduced to six in 2019, following the impact of Typhoon Yutu. The 16th Pacific Games (), also known as Apia 2019, were held from 7 to 20 July 2019. The Games were held in Apia, Samoa, returning there for the first time since 2007. It was the third time overall that the Pacific Games were held in Samoa.
